Today marks the 60th anniversary of Senator Mike Mansfield’s introduction of the Voting Rights Act to the Senate. The Act, which prohibits racial discrimination in voting, was not only one of the most successful statutory changes in federal history but also a remarkable feat of bipartisan statesmanship. The Montana Election Observation Initiative, a nonpartisan election observation project sponsored by The Carter Center in partnership with the Mansfield Center, has released its final report on its findings during Montana's 2024 general election process.?Observers noted the strong dedication of election workers and volunteers, which contributed to a secure, transparent, and well-managed election.?Read the full report at mteoi.org.
