FC Masar Women, part of the world-class Right to Dream community, received a heroes' welcome as the team returned to Cairo from the CAF Women's Champions League tournament in Morocco, where they finished third. The team continues to set new records - as the very first Egyptian team to qualify for the WCL finals - and to defy expectations, only three years since it joined the Right to Dream community. Masar entered the Premier League in 2022, won the Egyptian Cup in 2023, and secured the league-and-cup double in 2024. At the WCL, they defeated the defending champion, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, in the group stages, and after only losing the semi-final to an injury time goal, showed courage and resilience by winning the third-place playoff only 3 days later. With an average age of 20, we think this could be just the beginning of the journey for FC Masar, one of the teams of the year in global football. This is such an inspirational story. It follows the extraordinary journey of Right to Dream graduate Joy Okonye, from being spotted by an RTD scout while playing football against boys, to graduating from the RTD Academy in Ghana, to securing a student-athlete scholarship at a great high school in Connecticut, to currently thriving at an Ivy League university (Brown University - Class of 2027). Joy is one of almost 100 RTD graduates who have benefited from partnerships with leading schools and universities in the US and UK over the last 20 years. Our Chairman is proud to support the campaign by The Independent and Refuge to build safe refuges for domestic abuse survivors. “No women or children should feel unsafe in their homes. Our Chairman, Sir Mohamed Mansour, has announced a major gift to his alma mater, North Carolina State University in the US. Much of the funding is being made available to international students who need financial assistance, including a number of students who have travelled to NC State from the Middle East and Africa.
