We recently spoke with three individuals connected to The Loop Lab about their aspirations for the future of Boston's media arts scene, the youth of Boston, and the impact of The Loop Lab. Their insights reflect a shared vision of empowerment, creativity, and community. Read some of their key highlights and check out the full answers below. These are the dreams that #LoopDreams2024 will help bring to life. We hope to see you this Friday as we celebrate and support the next generation of Boston creatives! ? Ellice Patterson, M.S., Founder/Director of Abilities Dance: My vision for the Youth of Boston is that they not only cultivate skills here but remain here and continue to invest in the city of Boston. I think that The Loop Lab can contribute to that by continuing to offer employment experiences for youth to remind them that, not just in The Loop Lab, but in the many organizations that they will work with in their time here, there are employment opportunities and you just have to dig in and find what works for you. Miranda Yung, The Loop Lab Instructor: Change for the future begins with our youth. And the media arts industry is in desperate need of positive change in equity, diversity and inclusion. Our youth can’t become what they can’t see, and The Loop Lab is doing essential work to not only repair that, but to inspire and coach personal, creative and professional strength, motivation and skill within our apprentices. This world and this business is tough. On top of that, it has time and time again told our BIPOC youth both in media and in greater socio-political dialogue that they don’t matter. It is our human responsibility to rectify this false, damaging narrative, and I am proud to be a part of an organization that does just that. Anna, The Loop Lab Alumni: The Loop Lab has shown that there is a space for creative youth to turn to, to express themselves and show what they are capable of. As the years go by, they do all they can to see how they can further improve and develop the organization as a team. They consider the future for the students and alumni and how they can further their help and provide more spaces for young creatives to go to. #BostonCreatives #MediaArts #TheLoopLab #YouthEmpowerment #CreativeCommunity #DiversityInMedia #ArtsEducation #FutureOfMedia #SocialImpact #BostonEvents?

We spoke with three influential individuals connected to The Loop Lab about their visions for Boston's media arts, culture, and the future of The Loop Lab. Their insights offer a powerful look into the creative opportunities ahead. Read their full responses below. Ellice Patterson, M.S., Founder/Director of Abilities Dance: My dream for The Loop Lab and their mission is to continue to not just utilize their amazing services to provide increased accessibility for organizations like ours, but to highlight the Youth that work in their organizations, the diversity that exists in multiple artistic spaces, and to continue to envision themselves to live authentically as they grow their journey in the organization and in their careers. I also hope that The Loop Lab can support more disabled youth in their work to continue to serve the multiple marginalized Youth in Boston and provide opportunities that they might not otherwise get in less diverse and less innovative spaces. Miranda Yung, The Loop Lab Instructor: The Loop Lab is a dream, in and of itself. It’s a miracle not just for our creative sector, but for a lot of our needful youth who often have so much passion and not enough resources. My only hope is for this dream to grow in strength and take root into more creative persons and professional spaces. Anna, The Loop Lab Alumni: The Loop Lab has provided a safe space for me to grow as a person. I was always encouraged to take my path as far as I wanted to take it. I felt no pressure to go in a specific direction but they paved a pathway to flourish as a creative and media artist. I was always guided with compassion and was always told to not be afraid to make mistakes. They have stayed true to their mission and have given me access to resources and connections to further develop my career. I’m a freelancing media artist with the Loop Lab Studio and have learned a lot about where I wish to see myself and the future of my career. #LoopDreams2024 #MediaArts #BostonCulture #CreativeCommunity #TheLoopLab

Introducing #LoopDreams2024 performer Letta Neely: a distinguished poet, playwright, and performer whose words carve paths through the landscapes of queerness, Blackness, and social justice. Her works, including the play Hamartia Blues and poetry collections Juba and Here, resonate with profound truth and the rhythm of resistance. Letta's craft flows with a compelling force, and her voice reaches deep into the soul. As co-artistic director of Fort Point Theatre Channel and an educator at Apprentice Learning, she plays a pivotal role in inspiring and guiding the next generation. We are honored to share the City of Boston Media Arts Empowerment Award with Letta, representing our collective mission to break down barriers and create opportunities for stories that must be heard. #TheLoopLab #BostonArts #MediaArts #EmpowerArtists #SpokenWord #CreativeCommunity #BlackVoices?#LGBTQCreatives
