What if we told you there is a time saving assessment you can do with your students that gives you better information and helps you target the specific causes of reading weaknesses? Quick, skill-based measures are the way to go! Often referred to as curriculum based measures, or CBMs, many of these assessments take only one minute to give! Not only is that less testing time for your students, it frees up more time for you to dig into data to make informed instructional decisions! Here are some skill-based measures you can try this year: -Oral reading fluency -Nonsense word fluency (DIBELS 8th edition has a great version with a lot of sound spelling patterns!) -Letter naming fluency -Phoneme segmentation fluency -First sound fluency Do you use skill-based measures to target student reading needs? #scienceofreading #edchat #structuredliteracy

We break down complex literacy routines into bite-sized steps and host communities of practice on structured literacy.
关于我们
We offer community-building, implementation-focused virtual professional development for educators who are ready to move beyond balanced literacy and infuse evidence-based practices into their literacy block. This includes explicit and systematic phonics instruction, needs-based small group instruction, and text-dependent reading, writing, and discussion. Our PD is different. We use a flipped model to focus on the actual implementation of high-impact literacy practices. With weekly on-your-own-learning, PLC meetings on Zoom, and office hours, we break down complex literacy routines into manageable steps to try each week. Teachers leave our sessions feeling energized, excited, and prepared to try a new strategy with students. Sign up for our newsletter to learn more: theliteracyarchitects.com/newsletter
