We Believe. We Can. We Will.

关于我们

On April 9, 2015, our family's oldest daughter, Lilly, was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes ("T1D"), which we knew little about at the time. We learned that T1D is an autoimmune disease without a cure, where the body's immune system destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Lilly's determination inspired our family to take action, educate themselves, get involved, and advocate for T1D awareness and research. We are a volunteer-based 501c3 charity focused on making a direct and meaningful impact on the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) community. Our mission is to contribute to T1D research, improve care (both physical and mental), and address the systemic deficiencies in T1D support. The foundation aims to achieve this by providing targeted support to various initiatives within our "Areas of Focus", such as research, care for underprivileged and diverse populations, advancing education for endocrinologists and nurses, and advocacy. We seek to partner with innovative and underfunded organizations to drive positive outcomes and make a significant impact on the T1D community, all driven by our passion and discipline. In the fall of 2015, Team Lillylulu was established as a fundraising and volunteer team supporting T1D initiatives and advocacy. Over several years, it evolved into an advocacy and awareness team, a fishing team (Big Game Battle), and a 100-mile Trek team (Dad's 100 Mile Trek on Cape Cod). We have raised over $4,200,000 for T1D causes, including the first-of-its-kind venture philanthropy vehicle in the T1D Fund. Most recently, the foundation has established a groundbreaking partnership with Boston Children's Hospital with the establishment of the Lillylulu Foundation Fund for T1D at Boston Children's Hospital. The establishment of this Fund and partnership will have an immediate impact on closing the gap for underserved families and improving health outcomes for T1D children.

The Lillylulu Foundation is very excited to announce another new partnership with Outer Cape Health Services. OCHS is a 501c3 community health center serving the Lower and Outer Cape. The partnership will create an integrated endocrine services care model by linking the consultant endocrinologist, the nurse care manager, and the patient's primary care provider. This will have an immediate impact on addressing the gap that exists for patients that require customized and tailored care which is a major obstacle for T1D patients everywhere. I am very fortunate to be a patient at Boston Children's Hospital and a recipient of the greatest care available. Having this disease does not stop or turn off. I am able to manage and live my life because of the access I have to the technology I use to manage my T1D. My number one priority and mission as a founder of The Lillylulu Foundation and a member of the T1D community is to do everything we can to expand access to the latest technology to everyone living with this difficult disease. The lack of care leads to major health issues, a reduction in life expectancy, and, in many cases, death. This partnership is the first step we are taking on Cape Cod to achieve greater access and equity in this space. I could not be more excited to see the impact it will have on the lives of those facing T1D challenges, and I am committed to continuing this journey towards a future where everyone affected by this disease receives the care and support they deserve.
