Chicago Project Spotlight! ?? Target Streeterville in the heart of Chicago is one of Target’s new urban-format stores. Housed in a former loft-style factory building along the Chicago River, this space combines the building’s industrial roots with a modern twist. The design keeps it authentic with exposed wood rafters, brick, and concrete floors, while subtle additions—like wall graphics and linear LED wallwashers—bring a fresh, contemporary vibe. On the main floor, industrial pendant lights and LED accents directly focus on displays, and edge-lit acrylic fins add a glow over the checkout lanes.

Spotlighting a recent Chicago office site visit??Nolita Restaurant at The Ritz Carlton Naples ?? The Nolita is an Italian restaurant, featuring a unique culinary experience. Taking inspiration from the Nolita neighborhood in New York, it reflects the city feel while maintaining the tropical ambiance. Located on the ocean, the restaurant must adhere to local ordinances requiring amber-friendly LEDs to not interfere with turtle's migration season. The lighting creates a soft atmosphere, allowing for a relaxing dining experience.

Check out the new Target in Waikīkī, Hawaii! Inspired by the island's stunning land and sea, every detail reflects the vibrant spirit and unique charm of the local culture. Shoutout to the entire team on creating a beautiful space!
On O‘ahu, T3438 Waikiki soft opened this week, serving the bustling Waikiki area with a population of over 25K, 40K employees, and 6.2M annual visitors. This store, the sixth on the island and tenth in Hawai'i, promises exceptional value for tourists and kama?āina. Anchoring International Marketplace, T3438 replaces Saks Fifth Avenue that was the original tenant from August 2016 when International Marketplace first opened. Occupying three stories and close to 80K sq.ft., T3438 offers a unique shopping experience with a focus on local art and culture. The design celebrates the essence of Waikiki, showcasing pride, people, and the daily joy of life with a Mauka and Makai architectural theme. The store features an impressive water display symbolizing the flow from the mountains to the sea, embodying the cultural practice of Aloha ?āina and Aloha Kai - showing care for all the land from the mountains to the sea. Construction on this project was beyond challenging. Interior demolition was extensive. One set of existing escalators were removed while one set was rotated 180 degrees and reset adding in cartveyors – no easy task. An additional freight elevator was added as well as an elevated decline conveyor for freight flow into the store. And working in a dense area like Waikiki presented constant logistical challenges. Just 7' below Level 1 sits the North Pacific Ocean! This project was a collective effort, involving numerous partners and individuals who worked tirelessly to bring it to fruition. I am privileged to collaborate with such talented teams. Mahalo to all involved, and until the next venture in Hawai’i, a hui hou kākou! ?New York Project Spotlight: CRISPR Therapeutics R&D Headquarters in Boston, MA! Our New York Office proudly delivered this 263,000-square-foot, multi-story office and laboratory fit-out, designed to mirror CRISPR Therapeutics’ groundbreaking gene-editing mission. The design team focused on selective material removal, creating spaces that symbolize the precision of the company's work. Lighting designers added layers of meaning with DNA-inspired lighting, including an illuminated genome sequencing motif woven throughout the space. One standout feature: a custom DNA helix chandelier cascading through all seven stories of the central staircase, forming a striking visual link across floors. The amenity space features grid-mounted LED lighting inspired by the DNA bases—A, C, G, T—creating a cohesive environment that balances artistry with natural light.
