The LC's experiential story-led learning is designed to inspire and engineered to spark and sustain progressive personal leadership identity, ultimately driving deeper organizational growth. To inform our theory of change and learning methodology, we traveled the world to talk with hundreds of people about what they aspire to see in leadership — above them, around them, and within themselves. These powerful stories have helped design the blueprint for a highly personal and effective approach to leadership development. Creating trust and a shared understanding of new approaches to leading is the most important work we do — because "change happens interpersonally."     Today we share some exciting news from The LC — starting this fall, and with great care for our existing clients, we will dramatically shift our client engagement model. Our goal? Achieve broader scale, deeper impact, and greater healing opportunity in this key time of transition and change. What does this look like? I am personally seeking a full-time “residency” within a company, with the goal of leading human-centered change from the inside out. I would love to talk with anyone who wants to learn more — or just wishes to conspire with me! And I truly hope you will share back what you think. We have so much gratitude to the trusted thought partners who have already helped us arrive at this place of healthy evolution. What does this mean for The LC? We will continue our work of learning and lifting in new forms. As a unique sister partnership, we will finally make the space to publish the leadership book we are authoring together (stay tuned on that ?? ??). And we will take on very select clients pending schedules and fit. Our mission remains the same — to grow great leaders. In it for the long game… just now a free agent!     We believe that the most insightful, truth-telling perspectives come from the ground up. We know this in our core — from time spent with territory teams the world over, learning from their front-line knowledge, to our global listening tour, where we asked on-the-ground leaders worldwide what they aspired to see in great leadership. And of course, the hundreds of 1:1 conversations we’ve been honored to hold with dynamic, growth-minded individuals looking to evolve from the inside out.     Our day started early this morning, as we gathered with a distributed leadership team in a virtual workshop format focused on “building a brave team culture.” And we’re getting there! And we’ll end our day today in another virtual team session talking about one of the three defining aspects of Generative Leadership — having a long-term view, as we honor the past and innovate for the future. Success in our view is simple, though not easy; connect to individuals as humans, and help them lift into their own power to go out and make positive change. “That’s energy.     Getting the engines started in newly formed or evolving teams is sometimes the most challenging role of a leader. The work doesn’t stop, of course, but this is perhaps the most important time to invest in each other — to partner and collectively identify not just where you are going, but most importantly HOW you will get there, together. It takes time, but in our experience, it will take more time in the long run, if you don’t first build a strong foundation. What is going to help you do the work that you need to do?     One of the best parts of this work is having both the time and the beautiful duty to learn. Most often for us, finding compelling and inspiring thought leaders is about cracking open a book and soaking up knowledge that opens our minds and hearts, so that we can do the same for others.     Creating inspiring experiences that deepen collective understanding and build authentic connection is what we do best at The Liberty Collective. These engagements give us an interesting pulse point on the collective psyche of folks through understanding which of our ten leadership attributes leaders gravitate to for their teams. When we started offering in-person workshops just as the world was opening up post-pandemic, it is perhaps not surprising that the biggest demand was for our “Cultivating Joy” module. A bit further in, “Fostering Bravery” became the call. And lately? It’s “Grounding in Trust.” Today we gathered in Amsterdam to strengthen the roots of trust with the mighty global marketing leadership team from ESL FACEIT Group - EFG (“creating worlds beyond gameplay and building community for players, fans & creators”). This amazing group of talented and caring humans (plus one rad orange cat!) came together to fuel positive change collaboratively, and I’m happy to say we created a lot of sparks while building interpersonal trust in big and small ways.     Late last summer we headed to downtown Portland to visit friends and respected colleagues at INDUSTRY. Our ask was big but simple — help The LC widen our connection and create a bolder invitation. Six months later we launched with a fresh take and a very human appeal to “Reimagine Leadership.” (Check out our recently revamped website in our profile to see how the work so pivotally informed our messaging.) The core team was more passionate, focused, and imaginative than we could have ever hoped for. In true INDUSTRY style, they also worked with great speed and earnest diligence. On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate five Women of INDUSTRY, who have deeply inspired us. We hope they’ll stir something heartfelt in you today, as they share their views on what empathy means to them. We also asked Whitney (Connolly) Houser, Maddie Toland, Shannon Nelson, Sabrina Taylor, and Sofia Villarreal which qualities they thought were most important in human-first leadership. While they all said something different — understanding, empathy, accountability, trust, inspiration, and integrity — their voices ring true as one, in harmony and with the strength we need today.     One of our most transformative leadership workshops is “Fostering Bravery.” In this module, we learn about two kinds of fundamental strength — sword and harp. And the truth is, while we need both as leaders, we have lost our balance. As author Robert A. Johnson says, “The sword cannot build relationship. It can only rip apart.” He goes on to say, “If we want to build relationship, then we must learn to use the language of the harp. This is the kind of courage that heals and binds us together.” And this is how we find our way forward.
