Congrats on three years, Courtney! Thanks for being our glue! ??
Marketing Coordinator at Lewis Group Architects | Social Media Marketing Professional | Supporting Women in Business Everywhere
I may be EXTREMELY late to post this, but it's worth celebrating my THREE (!!!) years at Lewis Group Architects!! I was an extremely green hire, so here's some things I've learned in my time here as Marketing Coordinator: 1. You will make mistakes. There is nothing more nerve-wracking than making your first few mistakes at a new job. Thankfully, LGA has an amazing culture of mentorship and teamwork. Own your mistakes and learn from them - chances are you'll face the same situation later. In the words of the great Beyoncé Knowles, "If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow." 2. Get out there and meet people. No matter what industry you're in, the world is a surprisingly small place. The more people you meet and develop a relationship with, the easier it is to understand every facet of a project - whether it's industry-related or not. Plus, the larger your village, the easier it is to get help when you need it. You never know if the person you're talking to could be your next big lead! 3. Ask questions. So. Many. Questions. As a Marketing graduate of the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, I went into this position with a great set of tools under my belt. I felt so prepared for my first "big girl" job! But once I got behind my desk and started looking at my ever-growing to-do list, I realized that I had no idea how to translate what I learned into actions. Once again, my LGA family came to my rescue and showed me the ropes. Now, not only am I creating executable marketing strategies, but I'm planning events, managing IT, developing and maintaining client relationships, and so much more! 4. Your work is not your whole life. I know, I know, this is rich coming from someone with a full time job and 3 side gigs, but it's so true! If you're thinking about work 24/7, you will miss out on all the other things life has to offer. In today's world, it's hard to shut off your work-brain when things are going at 100mph, but if you keep up that speed you'll run out of gas before you hit your destination. Find a balance between your work life and your personal life. That email will be there in the morning, I promise! A sincere thank you to my team at LGA, you all are the best! I look forward to more years of learning and growing with all of you.
