It is great to see LCap leading the conversation on gender diversity in private equity in Kim Elsesser's latest Forbes article. The piece sheds light on the significant gender imbalance in PE-backed company leadership—and the impact this has on performance. Our data in the Leadership Capital Report shows that diverse teams drive better outcomes in the value-creation journey, yet only 17% of leadership positions are held by women at exit. Our findings reveal a critical “window” for diversity: the first 12-18 months post-investment. If diversity isn’t prioritised within this period, the likelihood of building a diverse, high-performing leadership team for exit diminishes greatly.
