Boys without dads are twice as likely to struggle with mental health. I’m growing a mustache (again!) to raise critical funds. The mustache is totally absurd, but the mission is serious. We honor the service and sacrifice of our Veterans by living admirably and honorably ourselves. On Saturday November 9, we hosted our first annual “Hiking to Honor Veterans” event paying tribute to those who have selflessly served our Nation.? The young men of our Graduate and Ambassador Programs had the privilege of a life lesson about honor from Mentor and U.S. Air Force Veteran Tyler Rood. Tyler shared his perspectives about honor and the principles of living an honorable life including being true to your word and grounded in the values you aspire to, holding yourself to high moral standards, living a life of purpose and accepting personal responsibility. We are grateful for the support of Folds of Honor who provided each of our young men and their mentors with proudly worn T-Shirts, to Cabela's for attending the event and providing bottled water for all our participants and to the Powhatan State Park Rangers and staff for their gracious hospitality. ..................... L.A.U.N.C.H for Life has seen about a 700% growth in demand since 2021. To help sustain our program, the L.A.U.N.C.H team will be doing a slightly different kind of growing during the month of November. The fundraising concept is simple - I embarrass myself a bit by growing the stache in exchange for donations. The money we raise is integral in allowing us to continue to empower Richmond-area young men who need positive male role models so every every contribution make a difference. Sometimes it’s just about showing up. Our President and Board Chair (Ken Jordan) and Graduate Program Leader (Marc Gaudette) attended Dominic's final home game of the season. Matoaca H.S defeated Prince George H.S. by a score of 50 to 21, continuing their undefeated season. ?? Dominic has been a mentee at L.A.U.N.C.H for Life since our beginning in 2021 and has grown tremendously. He is always respectful to his mentors and is a great role model for the other boys in our programs. Congrats on a successful season, Dominic.
