During his service, he was recognized with the Army Commendation Medal and the Driver and Mechanic Badge for driving over 8,000 miles in Iraq accident-free. After his military service, Sgt. Amaro has been active in veteran advocacy. He serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Advisory Committee in the Town of Manchester, Connecticut, where he has expressed support for legislation benefiting veterans. In 2016, Sgt. Amaro received a donated privacy fence from the nonprofit organization Hope For The Warriors and South Windsor-based Fence One. This initiative aimed to provide a safe and private environment for his family and service dog, aiding his transition back to civilian life. Sgt. Amaro’s dedication to his country and continued support for fellow veterans exemplify his commitment to service both in and out of uniform.
