The Junior League of the Palm Beaches is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Proudly serving Palm Beach County since 1941, the Junior League of the Palm Beaches develops community partnerships focused on serving children and young adults in the foster care system. Major projects over time have included the establishment and building of Quantum House and the 10,000 sq. foot Fun Zone play area in Gaines Park, the founding of the South Florida Science Center & Aquarium in 1961, and the establishment and facilitation of Eye & Ear Alert since 1968 and Cotillion since 1957. Volunteering in my community has long been a passion of mine, and I am grateful to the Junior League of the Palm Beaches for teaching me so much about the needs of our community and how to be an effective volunteer. It was such a full circle experience to organize a volunteer opportunity for a group of my members to volunteer at CROS Ministries as part of our newly launched program, Gleneagles Gives Back. ?? I got in a great workout unloading our bus full of donated food, and had a fantastic time spending the morning with an awesome group of members. I loved seeing the pride and joy that serving our community brought to each of them, and I am looking forward to the continued impact of this new initiative!
Gleneagles Gives Back is a new program for our members to volunteer as a group at a variety of nonprofits in the community. We held our first program today at CROS Ministries where our members assembled bags of groceries for the hungry in our community. We also delivered a large donation of food from our Gleneagles family! The members felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and fulfillment in making a difference in our local community, and we are looking forward to our next event on the calendar!
Over the weekend, this extraordinary group of members took our Eye and Ear testing to Pahokee, Florida, to screen children. After months of planning and logistics, this team made an incredible impact in serving this community. An amazing weekend at the first national The Junior League Advocacy and Leadership Initiative for more than 20 years! Needed now more than ever. ???? I want to say a special thank you to Jeri Powell, Sheena Rubin, and Charlyn Stanberry, Esq. for leading such thoughtful and empowering workshops. And if that was all I took from the weekend, it would have been enough, but my cup overflows with new friendships as well!
