Designed for grades 5-12, The Juice’s award-winning journalists and veteran educators work together to carefully select and expertly write the day’s news stories. Delivered fresh by 6:00 AM every school day, students receive a vibrant mix of original differentiated news articles, vocabulary builders, standards-aligned quizzes, infographics, deep dives on important topics and issues, and educational STEAM videos. Each week The Juice covers a rich mix and wide range of topics – from major U.S. and world news, the economy and environment, to scientific discoveries, civics, the arts, and inspirational stories highlighting exemplary moral character and the heroes among us, plus media and new literacy resources. Educators also find The Juice the ideal resource to incorporate media and news literacy into the classroom to help students successfully develop the skills and competency needed to navigate our complex informational world. The Juice makes even the most complex news understandable and accessible to all its readers by crafting its content at four reading levels to ensure all students have access to the same information regardless of their reading ability. Teachers receive real-time diagnostic data about student and class performance, which highlights standards mastery and accountability.

    In today’s classrooms, fostering critical thinking isn’t just about delivering information — it’s about creating opportunities for students to collaborate in discussions that allow them to - Engage deeply - Question thoughtfully - Build their individuality. At The Juice, we’re dedicated to empowering educators with the tools to facilitate impactful discussions, sparking curiosity and communication in every subject. The Juice’s platform provides a structured yet flexible way to incorporate current events into daily lessons, helping students connect what they learn with the world around them and discuss those thoughts with their peers. So, how can teachers use The Juice to drive meaningful classroom discussions? It starts with carefully curated, engaging content. Every article from The Juice includes up-to-date stories paired with relevant background information, breaking down complex topics into accessible language without sacrificing depth. This context is key for setting up productive conversations. Before jumping into a discussion, students can ground themselves in background knowledge. This gives them the confidence to participate actively and build well-informed viewpoints. Each article also comes with a single reflection question that helps students go beyond surface-level observations and start thinking critically. These questions are crafted to encourage - Analysis - Comparison - Debate - Perspective Analysis For teachers, this means that even a quick discussion can turn into a valuable critical thinking exercise without needing hours of preparation. Using The Juice, teachers can tailor discussions to fit any schedule or learning objective. 10 Minute Lesson Begin with a quick overview of the day’s top story, followed by the embedded reflection prompt. Give students time to put their thoughts into words and open the class up for discussion. 30 Minute Lesson For a deeper dive, assign an article as homework and use it as the foundation for a full-class discussion the next day. Challenge students to take on the viewpoints of the subjects of the article. The impact of these discussions goes beyond the classroom. Students who regularly engage with current events and learn to discuss them respectfully are better prepared for the complexities of the world.
