A lot has changed in the past five years. A LOT. Most food isn't even food anymore ?? The amount of chemicals in our air, water, food, and products are triggering our bodies to react differently and causing dis-ease ?? It's why 1 in 2 kiddos have a chronic illness in ???? and why youth mental health issues are through the roof ?? Good news. We can control and fix this by the choices we make as parents on behalf of our children and with NEW testing like genomics ?? Genomics give us the specific roadmap as to what's going on at a cellular level and can give us the exact coordinates on where to go next and what to do for not only short term relief but long term prevention of disease ?????? For children and adults stuck in the maze of chronic illness and auto immune, this testing and investment can save time, money, and maybe most importantly, sanity by going straight to YOUR unique molecular make up. Join our founder and the brilliant Dr. Sharon Hausman-Cohen from @intellxxdna as she explains the power of genomics in this most recent episode on the #MamaTraumaBarbiePodcast. ??????? https://lnkd.in/g4PXG6P6 #PANS #PANDAS #ADHD #Autism #Anxiety #ChildhoodEpidemics #Support #BetterCare

Repost from beyondpans ? PANDAS/PANS is (in huge part) a pediatric disease. There is good news and bad news here. Bad news: Onset at a younger age makes it harder to diagnose. Doctors often tell you that all these symptoms (emotional outbursts, hyperactivity, mood swings, food refusal…) are just behavioral and typical for the age. Or they say you need to discipline the child better (that’s more or less what we were told at the pediatric neurology department, despite severely skewed EEG results and many symptoms that could not be described as behavioral. Also, often the worst symptoms for the child are those ‘inside their head’ (their brain is ‘on fire’), and they can’t express themselves verbally at a young age. During flares, they may go through intense mental states, intrusive thoughts and images, hallucinations, and even psychosis. But the way it shows up is screaming, hitting their head, or aggression. That’s why even parents sometimes miss the sudden onset part. Or they see the sudden change in the child as a reaction to some life event (moving houses, new school, divorce…) Good news: If diagnosed and treated early, the chances of recovery are much higher. Around this age, both the immune system and the nervous system are not fully developed yet, and you can do a lot to rebalance these, but you need medical treatment. You need a knowledgeable doctor to diagnose it, order diagnostic tests, and prescribe the right medication (such as antibiotics, antivirals, antihistamines, antiinflammatory drugs etc.) That’s why we need more awareness among the doctors and the general public. Please reshare to help us spread awareness. #weeklyPANS #PANSPANDAS #PANDASPANS If you need help or support finding the right provider and treatment for your child visit: www.thejossdistrict.com ??

How do you take the worst thing that has ever happened to you and make the best out of it? ?? A few weeks ago, Alicia Wagner, CPCC, the founder of The Joss District, Inc., contacted me after seeing one of my Weekly PANS posts. ?? We exchanged a few words online, and it was immediately clear that we share a lot: - Similar stories with PANS in our family ????????? - Similar struggles with getting the right diagnosis and treatment ?? - Leaving work to homeschool the kids due to their debilitating symptoms ??? - Struggling to explain what was going on with our kids to other people, including the family ??? - After many interventions, addressing more than just the pathogens involved, making our kids well enough to be able to transform all that happened to us into something positive ? - We both found our missions in all this - me through my Weekly PANS series, Alicia through her Joss District health center??? It was great to exchange all the ideas and our plans. Thanks, Alicia Wagner, CPCC! (The links to the whole episode are in the links below.)

Did you know a law from 1938 is keeping safer sunscreen options off our shelves? America considers sunscreen a drug ?? Europe considers sunscreen a cosmetic?? Why does that matter? Because ???? gets greater toxic levels of harmful ingredients in their sunscreen. These are the decisions we're talking about as we consider "what in the health is going on today?" and what we can do as the adults in the room to improve outcomes for women and children. Let's stop ?? ourselves and our loved ones shall we ????♀? "In 2021 the European Commission published final opinions on the safety of three non-mineral ultraviolet, or UV, filters, oxybenzone, homosalate and octocrylene. It found that two of these filters – homosalate and octocrylene – are not safe in the amounts at which they’re currently used. As a result, the commission proposed limiting the allowed concentrations of these filters in sunscreens. But the U.S has different standards, as sunscreen manufacturers are legally allowed to use these two chemicals at concentrations higher than the European limits. These chemicals are readily absorbed through the skin and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found higher levels of oxybenzone in those who report applying sunscreen. It causes allergic skin reactions, infertility, behaves like a hormone disruptor, can cause cancer, and may be more harmful to children as they are more susceptible to the effects of chemicals. These chemicals can also be harmful to marine life, as they have been shown to contribute to coral bleaching. In an evaluation of CDC-collected exposure data for American children, researchers found that adolescent boys with higher oxybenzone measurements had lower total testosterone levels. Sunscreen is often seen as a necessary tool in protecting our skin from the harmful effects of the sun's rays." Opt for mineral-based sunscreens, choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen, and remember to reapply regularly to ensure optimal protection for your skin ??? If you need options for safer brands, check out the EWG's top picks in the comments??

PAN(DAS) is silently impacting millions of kids and families across the ?? and the time is now to shed light on these untold stories. The founder of Beyond PANS, @emiliametzel will be on the Mama Trauma Barbie Podcast tomorrow to highlight the importance of education and appropriate treatment. You could save a life or help a family by listening to this episode specifically ???. The rise in childhood epidemics masking mental illness is on a dramatic rise and many kids are getting lost in the shuffle because they are not getting the correct diagnosis or treatment. PAN(DAS) is a very debilitating condition, while it can be severe in nature and presentation, it can be treated with the right protocols and lifestyle modifications ?? The Joss District is committed to partnering with families for better testing, better treatment, better care, and better support. Schedule your consultation today if you believe your child could be struggling with this condition and join us tomorrow for a very important discussion that could change the game for someone you know or love. Link in comments to learn more?? ? Repost from beyondpans ? My mother died of lupus at a young age. My grandmother from my father’s side had rheumatoid arthritis. Both of my children have PANS. If you, your partner, sibling, or parent suffer from an autoimmune disease, your child is at a higher risk of developing PANDAS/PANS. It’s because PANDAS/PANS is believed to be autoimmune, and autoimmune diseases have a strong genetic link. That’s why having more than one child with PANS is not a coincidence. It’s pretty common. In different autoimmune diseases, the immune system mistakenly attacks different organs or tissues: In type-1 diabetes - the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. In celiac disease - the lining of the small intestine. In juvenile arthritis - the joints. In PANDAS/PANS - specific parts of the brain. If you have autoimmune diseases in your family and your child’s personality and behavior change abruptly, consider PANDAS/PANS. This is #2 of my Weekly PANS series. Follow me for more. weeklyPANS #pandaspans #panspandas

Need help getting your home, family, and health back on track? Our founder was floored six years ago to learn about the internal and the external factors contributing to her daughter's poor health outcomes ?? It's why she created The Joss District ?? You can learn more about the Joss District on the most recent episode of the #MamaTraumaBarbie???with one of our lead medical providers, Kristi Lorenc, NP. It's unacceptable how many families are stuck out here struggling with no support or answers in regards to what's happening with their child(ren). Not anymore. We are aligned with some of the best and brightest medical doctors and NPs who are treating chronic health conditions with ongoing support from health coaches and other secondary providers to help improve lifestyle modifications for long term success. We're prescribing better care that starts with better testing, better treatment, and better support. However, better outcomes truly start with addressing our food system, our air quality, and the integrity of our water with the government beginning to make better decisions on behalf of their constituents. These toxic chemicals are banned in other countries and for good reason. With suicide as the second leading cause of death in children age 9 to 24 here in the states, we owe it to the next generation of kiddos to turn over every single stone to ensure a brighter, more sustainable future. We might not be able to control everything going on around us, however, we can control what happens with our kids and within our four walls. Let's start there ?????? Welcome to The Joss District. ???
