More than 100 university students die by suicide in the UK every year… Suicide is the biggest killer of men aged 20-34… How do we prevent any more young people taking their own lives? The Jordan Legacy is proud to be an ambassador for The Low Road - a powerful new feature-length movie, due to go on general release in 2026, which offers a message of hope around suicide, self-harm and the many issues that young people, in particular, face. ? You are invited to attend a free screening of the film, followed by a Q&A and an opportunity to network, at the Curzon Cinema in London on Wednesday April 2nd, 9:45am-1pm: https://lnkd.in/eeNRmnBd. A Glasgow screening is also available on April 9th, 10am-1pm. ? At https://lnkd.in/eumbPkSM you can watch the short trailer, which includes interviews with staff and students at the University of St Andrews who watched the film. ? Are you employed or connected with a university, college, the emergency services, NHS, a charity or other third sector organisation? Like Police Scotland are doing, please consider screening The Low Road or licensing the film within your organisation for a small investment, as part of your suicide awareness and prevention strategy, and for the care and wellbeing of young people. • ? The One Day Test: Hitting Men's Mental Health for Six ? On Sunday 22nd June, a small village cricket team, in Hemingbrough, North Yorkshire, will take on an extraordinary challenge - playing an entire test match in a single day. From 8am - 9pm, they'll push their limits, playing for 13 hours straight to raise awareness and funds for men's mental health and the power of community in wellbeing. The world of cricket has been touched by mental health struggles on many occasions, highlighting the importance of raising awareness and support. This event parallels the longest day struggle that many men face, emphasising that getting through just one day can be a significant step forward. Hence, the One Day Test - a symbolic representation of endurance, resilience and hope. Their goal is to raise over £15,000 and we are hugely grateful that The Jordan Legacy is one of three important causes they have chosen to support. ?? ?? Hope for Life is back! ?? We are thrilled to announce that we have confirmed arrangements with the Great Yorkshire Events Centre to host our third Hope for Life (UK) Conference - and it promises to be every bit as special as the previous two have been! ?? Tuesday December 2nd 2025 - 9am - 5pm Our first conference was held in December 2021, just 3 days before the second anniversary of Jordan's death. It began as finding some way to deflect from the immense sadness we experience each December 4th since he took his own life in 2019, a way to create a belief that from his devastating loss we could find hope again and by doing so, inspire others to believe that also. Once again a mix of carefully selected speakers, musicians and performance acts will inspire an audience of more than 100 people from across the UK and overseas, so that they end the year with hope and a belief that it is possible to prevent all preventable suicides. ?? We are currently offering an early bird saving available for bookings received before the end of March. Tickets sell very quickly for this event so secure yours today at https://lnkd.in/eHiaq7Rw #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #hopeforlifeuk

Tomorrow, March 1st, is Self-Harm Awareness Day, an opportunity to remove the stigma attached to self-injury and to encourage awareness about recognising the signs of self-harm. Self-harming is a coping strategy - for sufferers it helps them to manage their emotions, gives them a feeling of control and a release from tension. It is a way of dealing with overwhelming feelings, personal situations and experiences. It is one of the strongest predictors of suicide, with more than 50% of those who take their own lives having a history of self-harm. There are lots of organisations and charities that offer support and advice for those affected. These include: ?? Alumina, who provide free online self-harm support for 10-17 year olds: https://lnkd.in/e8ieXPmj ?? Heads Above The Waves raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people and promotes positive, creative ways of dealing with the bad days: https://hatw.co.uk/ ?? Self Injury Support, who focus on improving support and knowledge around self-injury, offering safe spaces, experience-led tools and information on self-harm topics: https://lnkd.in/dhhjwi6 ?? stem4, whose award-winning app Calm Harm helps to manage/resist the urge to self-harm: https://stem4.org.uk/ ?? Harmless works to address and overcome issues related to self harm and suicide: https://harmless.org.uk/ ?? Safe Cut Kits by S&L are carefully and specifically designed for those affected by self-harm: https://lnkd.in/eMn2wpXz ?? RightLinesUK provide online support for young people who feel the need to self-harm ?? For parents worried about their child self-harming, read a helpful blog article by Safe and Sound First Aid & Safety Training at https://lnkd.in/eY4St_iQ You can also find more information and support at https://lnkd.in/eUeGPSvi on The Jordan Legacy website. #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #selfharmawarenessday
