From presenting programs with well-known leaders and advocates for Israel and fighting antisemitism, to missions for Jewish community members, Israel has been central to our daily work. Since October 7, our local Jewish community bolstered our investment in Israel by sending more than $2 million addressing urgent needs, joining us in marches in Washington D.C., and showing up time and time again to community gatherings to stand alongside Jewish and non-Jewish neighbors in solidarity for Israel. The Unity Campaign strengthens our commitment and investment in Israel and its future. We are the bridge between there and here. When you make a gift today, your commitment will ensure we can keep our Jewish community safe, informed, and connected. If half of our donors join in making a two-year commitment by Dec. 31, 2024, a collective additional gift of $500,000 will be given to the campaign to support our community. Help us make our community safer. To learn more and join us today, visit https://jfedsrq.org/unity/ #UnityCampaign #JewishFederation #StoptheHate #CommunityBuilding #Sarasota

Congratulations to Emily Walsh who has been elected to the Federation’s Board of Directors! A fourth-generation newspaperwoman and President of the Observer Media Group, Emily Walsh is a long-time supporter of the American Jewish Committee, and over the last number of months, has been working closely with Shepard Englander to help strengthen the Federation’s marketing strategy and raise awareness in the community. “I am thrilled to be a part of the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. My family and our business have been longtime supporters of the Jewish Federation’s mission and programs, and I look forward to working on important issues to help strengthen Jewish life in Sarasota-Manatee,” said Walsh. #JewishFederation #EmilyWalsh #Congratulations

For thousands of years, the Jewish people have experienced unthinkable loss and heartbreak. The horrific events of October 7 reminded us again that we cannot stand still. Physically, we do not feel safe. Emotionally, we do not feel safe. But together, we can find safety. Through the Unity Campaign, we will rebuild our sense of safety. Investment in programs like Safe SRQ, our community’s region-wide security initiative that protects Jews, is crucial to remaking our long-term sense of safety. When you make a gift today, your commitment will ensure we can keep our Jewish community safe, informed, and connected. Five donor families have issued a challenge. If half of our donors join them in making a two-year commitment by Dec. 31, 2024, they will make a collective additional gift of $500,000. Help us make our community safer. Thanks to the Federation’s Women’s Giving Circle, $10,000 was awarded to Neve Michael’s Emergency War Response Program, a lifeline for Israel’s children at risk. Neve Michael Children’s Village serves 400 children between the ages of 4 and 18, providing care, protection, and healing for those removed from dysfunctional families due to physical, sexual, or emotional abuse and severe neglect. With the escalation of violence in the ongoing conflict, and with many of the children already suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Neve Michael is an essential place where these children can finally find the warmth, love, and stability that has been missing from their young lives. Click here to read more about how the Women’s Giving Circle is helping to sustain a place where healing, learning, and growth can continue, even in the face of overwhelming adversity: https://lnkd.in/g2k9BWvf #JewishFederation #GivingCircles #WomeninPhilanthropy #JewishCommunity #WomensLeadership

Every year, this Federation relies on you–our community–to support our vital work. This year, it’s different. With the atrocities committed on October 7, rising antisemitism, and antagonizing political rhetoric, we are not who we were a year ago. To light a way forward, we are launching a “Unity Campaign” that will keep our community safe, informed, and connected. Replacing the Jewish Federation’s traditional annual campaign, The Unity Campaign is a 2-year gift commitment that will raise the funds needed to reduce our isolation and fear, help us understand and prioritize the threats facing us, and ensure our safety. Help us make our community safer. To learn more and join us today, visit https://jfedsrq.org/unity/ #UnityCampaign #JewishFederation #StoptheHate #CommunityBuilding #Sarasota
