The Jeff Cohen Charitable Foundation was established in 2014 to raise funds for those in need and positively impact Plymouth and the surrounding South Shore communities. The foundation was initially inspired by the 9/11 tragedy, which led to a Halloween party becoming a benefit to raise money for the families of fallen firefighters. The event raised almost $1,000 that year, demonstrating the power of what could be achieved with community support. The foundation then became heavily involved with Plymouth's Boys and Girls Club and developed a Valentine's Ball benefit. With the help of a committee of volunteers, the first year raised $12,000, and by the seventh year, the foundation raised over $75,000, resulting in a combined total of $250,000 over seven years.
The foundation has also been active in supporting the Special Olympics, and in 2005, Jeff Cohen was awarded a Senate citation for his work with the organization. In 2014, the foundation's volunteer committee planned the first New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball in Plymouth, which earned them recognition and commendations from the South Shore Community Action Council, the Mass Senate, Congress, and the House of Representatives for their charitable endeavors.
The JCC Foundation is committed to continuing its work as a team and becoming a force in its community for years to come. They are always ready to offer their help in any way they can.
