Maintaining vascular health during the busy holiday season is key to staying energized and healthy. Here are some tips to keep your heart, brain, and overall system in top shape: ?? Stay active: Enjoy brisk walks, family games, or even a local Turkey Trot to keep circulation flowing. ?? Eat mindfully: Choose nutrient-rich foods like leafy greens, fruits, and whole grains to nourish your body. ?? Manage stress: Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation to support heart health. ?? Hydrate: Drinking water is essential for circulation, so keep your water bottle handy throughout the season. ?? Take breaks from sitting: Stand up, stretch, or walk around every hour to keep blood flowing (especially during long flights and car rides during the holidays) ?? Avoid excess alcohol: Moderation is key when it comes to maintaining vascular health during holiday celebrations. With a little attention to balance, your vascular system will stay strong and ready to take on the season.

At the #JacobsInstitute, we believe that transforming patient care starts with empowering those who innovate. Our custom training programs cover every step of the patient journey—from the emergency department to recovery—allowing R&D engineers to experience firsthand how their devices make a difference. Through live case observations, interactive learning, and hands-on device deployment, engineers gain invaluable insights that fuel their creativity and drive them to develop even better solutions. We’re not just improving devices—we’re shaping the future of patient care. #ComeInnovateWithUs

Spotlight on Jim Herr, Production Services Manager ?? Jim joined the #JacobsInstitute in spring 2022, stepping in to manage the JI’s complex audiovisual (A/V) infrastructure. This includes overseeing the one-of-a-kind broadcast facility embedded within the endovascular suites at Kaleida Health’s Gates Vascular Institute. “My background is in live television production, so I was a bit of a fish out of water at first. As a former photojournalist, I adapted quickly, picking up bits of everything I needed to know in a short time.” Jim works across all levels at the JI, assisting with live broadcasts of clinical procedures, recording surgical cases, videoconferencing, and live streaming JI events. “No two days are ever the same. I can start with a photoshoot, pivot to livestream an engineering session in the Training Lab, then get called to record a pulmonary embolism thrombectomy—all before lunch.” Jim’s adaptability is essential to the JI’s mission, helping to showcase new treatments, capture valuable data for developing next-gen technologies, and advance the JI’s public relations work. Join us in celebrating Jim today! ??
