?? My kids got me good! ?? I like to think I’m pretty good at figuring things out—especially when someone’s planning something. But not this time. On November 8th, my kids pulled off the ultimate surprise: a joint surprise birthday party for my husband and me! How did they do it? It started with a perfectly timed text the Friday before. My cousin, who is notorious for last-minute plans, invited us to her son’s “surprise” 21st birthday party on Sunday at 2:00 at the pub. Naturally, I thought nothing of it. Totally her norm. But here’s the thing—my kids knew I’d say no because we had Aidan’s volleyball tournament all weekend, and of course, we were going. So, I texted back, “Sorry, can’t make it.” Fast forward to Saturday. We’re at the tournament in CT, and Aidan is playing great until he takes a hard landing going for the ball and injures his wrist. Out for the day (and, we assumed, the weekend). Volleyball plans = canceled. Thankfully, it was just a bruise! Sunday morning. With no tournament to attend, I texted my cousin to let her know we could now come to the party after all. I ran out to grab a birthday card to bring. We arrived at 2:00, and that’s when it all unfolded. My cousin greets us, saying they had to move the party downstairs because more people showed up than expected. I noticed Aidan’s car in the lot and figured, “Oh, since he’s not playing volleyball, he’s here too.” Walking in, I was completely shocked to see a room full of familiar faces, 50 balloons, a slideshow, and “SURPRISE!” ringing out. Turns out, this party wasn’t for my cousin’s son—it was for us! Since my birthday is in October and my husband’s is in December, it made perfect sense to have a joint celebration right in between. They got me good this time. This Thanksgiving week, I’m reflecting on how thankful I am for my family, my husband, my kids, and the journey we’ve had together. They truly are the key to everything I do, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Have you ever been totally surprised like this? (And now you also know how old I am.)

Another one in the books! Community Summit is hands down one of my favorite events each year. It’s more than just a conference – it’s a true community. I’ve been fortunate to build lifelong friendships with people who engage, support, and mentor me along the way. Since starting in this space in 1999, I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing ISVs. Now, doing my own thing, I realize how essential this community has been to my journey. Your support, guidance, and feedback have made all the difference. This year’s summit was especially memorable, and I’m so grateful to everyone who made it possible – the organizers, sponsors, speakers, and attendees. Can’t wait to do it all again in Orlando in 2025! #MySummitNA #CommunitySummit
