关于我们
The International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA) is based in the Washington DC area in the United States, and is a worldwide membership Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of professionals involved in national management, particularly in national and international security and strategic policy. ISSA is registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a tax-exempt, non-profit educational foundation under 501(c)(3) status. The Association, founded in 1972 with the birth of its Defense & Foreign Affairs group of publications, has as one of its key objectives the creation of forums at which professionals in these areas can meet, or exchange information and views, in informal circumstances to discuss issues of mutual concern. The Association regularly honors achievements in the field of international relations and peacemaking with its Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Strategic Progress. ISSA's College of Fellows has gathered together leaders from around the world to help consider issues of major strategic importance. Members of the College are entitled to the post-nominals "FSS": Fellow of Strategic Studies. The Association, in 1998, brought fully in-house the publication of the Defense & Foreign Affairs publishing and information group, which began in 1972 providing strategic information and analysis to governments worldwide. It also incorporates the Global Information System (GIS), an encrypted on-line intelligence service for governments.

Interpreting the Trump Barrage It is significant how many observers still look at the Trump Administration through the media lens, rather than objectively and strategically. Loving or hating Trump on an emotional level is immaterial: follow the logic and the ramification of his actions at a broader level. That's what we have attempted to do in this latest report, posted in full below. We're not looking at good or bad (and good or bad for whom?); we're looking at "what is" and "what's possible or probable". Hope you enjoy it.

The Balance of #Prestige: The Decider of Wars ISSA's "Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis" on January 31, 2025, published a report on how prestige (and particularly the lack of it among virtually all governments and nation-states at present) is the most significant contributing factor to the initiation and resolution of strategic conflict. This report, shown below in full, highlights how this evolving dynamic impacts possible trends in 2025 and beyond.

The Noble State: Governance Options in an Ignoble Era ISSA is getting ready to release a premiere, limited edition (500 copies), signed and numbered volume of Gregory Copley's new book, The Noble State: Governance Options in an Ignoble Era. This important book gives new ideas as the current strategic unrest opens up questions as to why certain types of government do better than others at certain times. It looks at what republics could learn from constitutional monarchies, which have evolved dramatically to create higher standards of living, greater stability, and strategic flexibility.

New edition of "Strategic Policy" opens the door to optimism The 10/2024 edition of "Defense & Foreign Affairs Strategic Policy" opened the door for the start of a possibly less-cataclysmic decade. As a result, we've decided to post the entire edition here, but we urge you to subscribe to get comprehensive and nuanced grand strategic perspectives regularly, as we have been doing now for more than 52 years.

Surviving the Coming Calm ISSA's "Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis" on March 12, 2024, published an initial report on the global ramifications of the overwhelming US election of former Pres. Donald #Trump back to the White House, supported by domination of both houses of Congress. The findings of the study may be surprising, in that they suggest that the #US-PRC war has peaked and that Beijing was now in a contained position to some degree, and that #Russia was poised to become the dominant power in the PRC-Russia relationship, and much more.
