"We’ve seen the strongest labor markets in more than 50 years, bringing unusually strong wage growth for the bottom 90% of American households."

CenterPoint Energy customers already pay the highest electric rates in the state, and now the utility wants them to pay even more — as much as an additional $90 a month for the average customer. The southern Indiana utility filed a rate case at the state utility regulatory commission late last year, its first in nearly 15 years when it was still called Vectren. And it's a big one, according to consumer advocates. #Indianapolis #energy #powerbills #indianapolisnews

Last week, the power of local journalism was on display as IndyStar's mission to tell Hoosier stories with depth and empathy helped change a life and a law. Besides the two stories mentioned here, this year alone we've seen an employee save a life, kept attention on a cold case for more than four decades until it was solved, and told the stories of countless neighborhoods and people in 317 words or less. IndyStar marked its 120th?year serving Central Indiana in 2023. Our reporting team has earned numerous local, regional and national recognitions, including a 2021 Pulitzer Prize. We believe journalism that brings positive change in our communities is worthy of your support. We thank you for reading IndyStar. #indystar #indianapolis #localjournalism #indianapolisnews
