The Funded Cyber Essentials Programme has been expanded into specific areas within the legal sector until the end of March. It is open to all registered barristers or advocates and recognised barristers' chambers or advocates’ stables that meet the eligibility criteria. ?? Our latest blog delves into why The Cyber Advisor Scheme is such an essential component in the protection of SMEs against the most common cyber attacks. Emma W, Head of Cyber Essentials and Cyber Advisor at National Cyber Security Centre, explains why NCSC want to see more Cyber Advisors within the cyber security industry, particularly as they carry the recognition and assurance from NCSC that they give good and trusted advice, relevant and appropriate to the organisation receiving it. “The scheme sets the standard in assessing Cyber Advisors both on their technical knowledge, and in having the competence to recommend solutions appropriate to the size of the organisation, and to implement the controls or direct the implementation of the controls. It’s not just about knowledge; you must be able to demonstrate additional attributes to be successful including team working, communication and influencing skills", says Emma. "This assessment is demanding. It’s not an entry level route; it demands a level of skill that’s not just about technical expertise but about designing appropriate solutions and communicating in plain English. We’re confident at NCSC, through ongoing evaluation, that it is set at the correct level”.
