This has been a busy week! I drove from Richmond to Philly, Philly to Harrisburg and Hbg back to RVa in 3 days. For the 3rd year now THCF has helped sponsor Pennsylvania Recovery Organizations - Alliance ‘s Annual Fall Event at the Country Club of Hbg. This year’s theme was the “Future Rec Workforce.” Rec-Ready Workplaces, esp. in a post pandemic world, are absolutely one of the next frontiers (if not *the* next frontier) in HR Management. If I didn’t believe that w/ virtual certainty I would have just quietly returned to practicing law when I recovered rather than undertake the monumental work necessary to form The Hyer Calling Foundation. It was an honor & a privilege to meet Dr. Latika D. Davis-Jones in person! Reconnecting w/ Whitney Menarcheck and David Kern was pretty great, too. Thank you to William Stauffer, Nikki Weir, and the PRO - A team for such an invigorating event.

#LCLPA is grateful to be onsite today for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee Section Day at the Red Lion Hotel in Harrisburg, PA. Brian S. Quinn, LCL's Education Coordinator, will be presenting "Intervention Strategies for Legal Professionals." The presentation will highlight LCL's invaluable services and how to recognize the early warning signs of distress and impairment due to substance use and mental health challenges. It will also cover best approaches for engaging with an impaired individual, and examine the existing barriers that prevent lawyers from seeking the help they need. Their innovation, authenticity and belief in real forms of a 2nd chance for highly motivated people in rec has undeniably set themselves apart as the flagship leaders in their industries around the legal and bus. cases for a Rec-Ready Workplace. It has also enabled THCF to increasingly fund no cost legal services for clients accepted into our 2nd chance program. They are provided by external Esq.’s throughout the Philly to Norfolk corridor. It is not an exaggeration to say that quality, no cost legal services for people in rec can be a matter of life & death. The need will only soar as we build out our satellite office in Richmond. However, at this time our growth does not entail contracts w/ either Commonwealth. This note alarmed me and I’d imagine may others, too.
