The Honor Foundation is thrilled to welcome Karen Schaefer to the THF Board of Directors! Karen held numerous leadership positions within the Central Intelligence (CIA) during her 26-year career, with positions that included Chief of Operations, Directorate of Science and Technology; Deputy Associate Director of Military Affairs; Deputy Chief of Counterintelligence, Near East Division; Executive Assistant to Deputy Director CIA; and Group Chief, Iran Operations Division. She also served as Director of Intelligence Programs at the National Security Council (NSC), where she managed the President’s covert action programs. She closed out her government career as the Associate Executive Assistant Director (AEAD) of the National Security Branch, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Director’s Senior CIA Representative. Ms. Schaefer served as the Policy Lead for the Biden Transition Team Central Intelligence Review Team in 2020. The Honor Foundation is excited to have Trent Breland join THF Team as the Director of Programs for our JBLM Campus! Trent retired after 20 years of service, starting his Army career with the 82nd Airborne Division in North Carolina before an amazing 16 years as a Green Beret with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. In addition to his military career, Trent and his wife Katie own multiple award-winning salons. The two have been married for 17 years and have two thriving children, a son Degan (15) and daughter Quinn (12).
