“I really appreciate everything I was able to pick out for me and my children.” - Alisha R. Alisha and her 3 young children moved into their apartment in July 2024. They had been living without the basic comforts of a furnished home since. That changed this month when Alisha had her appointment at CFB. When asked about the item she was most excited to bring home, Alisha said: “The beds!”. Alisha and her children had been sleeping on mattresses in poor condition, for months. Alisha picked out a complete furniture package including a dresser, sectional couch, and kitchen table. She rounded out the package with accessories to make the package her own. “I love the rugs, and the mirrors, and the lamps. I like the… artwork too, that will look nice on my [living room] wall.” Alisha had her furniture delivered the day after picking out her items. Thank you to Alisha for sharing her experience. This month, we hosted a wonderful group from Impact Grants Chicago. They assembled couches, packed kitchenware boxes, and organized our volunteer area. Impact Grants Chicago has been a massive supporter of CFB for years. Through volunteer groups and generously awarding CFB an 'Impact Grant', they’ve certainly had an impact on our organization and mission. Cherlexuz and her three children moved into their apartment almost a year ago. She made the best out of the situation, but lacked access to the furniture and other household items she needed to make her home comfortable. “It’s all air mattresses.” Cherlexuz did her own research and found out about CFB by searching online. She called us, and was connected with Analisa, CFB’s internal caseworker. Just over a month after connecting with CFB she had her shopping experience. Cherlexuz picked out a complete package, including a kitchen table, dresser, bed-sets, and her couches… “[I’m excited about] my couches.
