When I first contacted? The Hidden Opponent?last year, I never imagined that Elle would be delivering a keynote workshop to their student-athletes so soon! To witness so many student-athletes from across the US openly share their stories and their motivation to create change in conversations between athletes and coaches about eating disorders was truly inspiring. This talk was exactly what I would have wanted - and needed - when I competed for Spain as a national-level athlete. ?? ?? Seeing real change being made at the sporting level for athletes with open conversations about eating disorders and coping mechanisms is exactly why I started working with Elle Mace.?These topics are incredibly close to my heart, and it’s powerful to see platforms like? The Hidden Opponent, founded by?Victoria Garrick Browne, providing spaces for these impactful discussions. ?? There is still so much progress to be made, and while the steps may be slow, platforms like? The Hidden Opponent?play a crucial role in allowing speakers like Elle to connect with student-athletes, equipping them with the tools to speak up, seek help, and support others who may be struggling with an eating disorder. ?? If you’d like to talk about any of these topics, feel free to reach out at?[email protected]?with any queries or questions.?It’s so crucial to keep these conversations going because eating disorders so often thrive in silence. ???? A huge thank you to the?Campus Captains at The Hidden Opponent?for organising so much for?ED Awareness Week (EDAW) - your platform and support make such a difference! ??? #EDAW #studentathletes #eatingdisordersupport #mentalhealth

Last Thursday,?I had the privilege of delivering a workshop on?"Eating Disorders: The What, Why, and How"?to student-athletes at?The Hidden Opponent?through their?Campus Captains?programme. Founded by former NCAA volleyball player and Forbes 30-under-30?Victoria Garrick Browne, The Hidden Opponent is doing incredible work in advocating for mental health in sport ????. ?Did you know? ?? 80% of females struggle with body image ?? 62% of males experience the same ?? 90% of non-binary people face these challenges These numbers highlight the urgent need for open conversations about eating disorders, body image, and access to support. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, but educating both athletes and coaches is a key step towards meaningful change at the sporting level. It was inspiring to see so many athletes from across the US engage in such an interactive session. The recording will be available soon on The Hidden Opponent’s platforms and my YouTube channel @iamellemace ! ???Eating Disorder Awareness isn’t just for this week so let’s keep the conversation going. To book a keynote talk or workshop for?International Women's Day (March), Mental Health Awareness Week (May), or to prioritise your team’s well-being, reach out to?[email protected]. A huge thank you to?The Hidden Opponent?and all the incredible?Campus Captains?for making this happen! ????
