Hello LinkedIn community! I am beyond thrilled to share that after being accepted to all the graduate programs I applied to—George Washington, Yale, and Columbia—I will be pursuing my Master of Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in the Department of Population and Family Health, with a certificate in Sexuality, Sexual & Reproductive Health. My work will remain dedicated to Black health and Black futures, guided by a public health framework rooted in social support, community advocacy, lived experience, policy, sexuality, and abolition. For those who know me personally, academically, or professionally, you know that public health is not just my field of study—it’s my purpose. I believe public health reveals injustice in its starkest forms, and that science, when rooted in people, is among the most powerful tools for change. Stepping into this field at a time when equity and justice are being challenged and vilified is daunting. However, I choose to hold onto bell hooks’ words: “There can be no justice without love.” That is the public health I will continue to practice at Columbia and beyond—one grounded in compassion, empathy, care, and love. The very reason that I was placed on this earth, is to serve the community- a community that I believe should be proud of and strive for diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Despite the current attacks on public health and justice work, I am ready and eager to deepen my knowledge, foster meaningful relationships, and continue doing the work that matters at Columbia. To the incredible mentors, professors, and friends who have guided me through my journey in Public Health and Black Feminist thought—thank you. Your wisdom and support have shaped me, and I would not be here without you. Here’s to the next chapter!

The Dart Center, in collaboration with Columbia Global Paris Center and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health's Program on Forced Migration and Health (PFMH) and Care and Protection of Children (CPC) Learning Network, is pleased to announce the 27 journalists and four Columbia University students selected for its Reporting Institute on Childhood and Forced Migration in Europe, which will be held in Paris, France from April 4-6, 2025. ?? This three-day training institute will bring together journalists from 11 countries across Europe with leading researchers, clinicians, practitioners and award-winning journalists for expert briefings, panels and workshops to deepen reporting on children and families impacted by forced migration and displacement. The institute will offer opportunities for knowledge sharing, source development, skill-building and peer-to-peer learning as well as foster a community of journalists dedicated to reporting on children with insight, accuracy, sensitivity and depth.
