We're sharing news this morning that the CA Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP) recently announced a Request for Applications. #Grants will be awarded to up to 43 projects working to end California's tobacco epidemic through #policy, #system, and #environmental change #strategies. Congratulations are in order for our #team member Ngoc Ho! Ngoc was recently accepted to Asian Pacific American Leadership Institute's 2024 Board Leadership Academy. APALI builds a pipeline of well-qualified Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPIs) #nonprofit #board candidates and provides advanced training for existing AANHPI board members to help them excel. According to a 2019 study, there are fewer AANHPI community members on nonprofit boards than any other minority group. APALI's Academy increases representation, ultimately creating an important diversity of perspectives and lived experiences on boards that then better guides culturally-responsive and culturally-competent work of community organizations. Ngoc will be in good company--APALI's alumni include Camille Llanes-Fontanilla, MPA (a former THT Board Trustee!), sisters Betty Duong, Esq. and Kathy Duong, Carmen Montano, Wendy Ho, MPA, Patrick Ahrens, and Rupi Kaur (to name a few!).
