A collaborative network working to strengthen and integrate the healthcare and housing systems in New York City
关于我们
The Health & Housing Consortium, Inc. DBA the Bronx Health & Housing Consortium is a collaborative network of more than 60 healthcare, housing, social service, and government agencies with the shared goal of strengthening and integrating the healthcare and housing systems in New York City at the policy, operational, and individual client/patient levels. We work in three core areas: (1) Research & Advocacy, to better understand the needs of and improve resources for people with physical and behavioral health needs who are also experiencing homeless or housing insecurity; (2) Training & Resource Development, to equip frontline staff serving this population with the information and support they need; and (3) Cross-Sector Collaboration, to bring together stakeholders from different sectors who are serving some of the same people in order to improve communication and coordination of care.

From our recent newsletter: Last Wednesday, a new bill passed that will ban mandatory broker fees for renters in NYC. Instead, the person who hires the broker, such as the landlord, will be responsible for paying these fees themselves. These extra fees are often limiting and a financial barrier for people looking to move. Although many find this a win, some are still fighting against this legislation such as the Real Estate Board of New York. ??? Achieving good health is impossible without stable, quality housing! That's why I was honored to be invited to speak today at the The Health & Housing Consortium about Public Health Solutions' WholeYouNYC network and the potential opportunities for housing providers under New York State's 1115 Medicaid Waiver Amendment. ?? Thank you to Bonnie Mohan for such a warm welcome, Christina Ortiz for organizing us, and Kristina Ramos-Callan of HMA for moderating such a rich discussion. ? I felt privileged to be among co-panelists Emily Engel from NYS-OHIP, Lidia Virgil of SOMOS Community Care, and Kathy Miller of BronxRHIO. #healthequity #publichealth #housing #nyc
