The Consortium is in Albany today to show our support for the Human Services Council of New York's #JustPay campaign! Human services workers are the backbone of this state and in times of increased uncertainty, we need a strong nonprofit sector. We stand with all of our members and colleagues as they fight for a 7.8% investment on all State human services contracts, the passage of S1580/A2590 to guarantee that all nonprofit human services programs are eligible for State cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) funding, and S3953/A5589 (Wage Board legislation) to address the pay gap between nonprofit and government human services workers. A collaborative network working to strengthen and integrate the healthcare and housing systems in New York City
关于我们
The Health & Housing Consortium, Inc. DBA the Bronx Health & Housing Consortium is a collaborative network of more than 60 healthcare, housing, social service, and government agencies with the shared goal of strengthening and integrating the healthcare and housing systems in New York City at the policy, operational, and individual client/patient levels. We work in three core areas: (1) Research & Advocacy, to better understand the needs of and improve resources for people with physical and behavioral health needs who are also experiencing homeless or housing insecurity; (2) Training & Resource Development, to equip frontline staff serving this population with the information and support they need; and (3) Cross-Sector Collaboration, to bring together stakeholders from different sectors who are serving some of the same people in order to improve communication and coordination of care.

From our recent newsletter: A newly released survey from The Community Service Society?shows that the majority of people across the board support rent control measures, with 81% of respondents supporting rent stabilization and 78% supporting "good cause" eviction. It was found that 75% of Republican respondents answered with "definitely support" or "probably support", even though the Republican Party "remains fiercely opposed to measures like rent stabilization."?Sam Stein, a housing policy analyst with the Community Service Society, stated "Half the state are renters, and I think renters are certainly in touch with the fact that they have limited rights and are feeling the squeeze." Nonprofits are being squeezed from all sides. The City continues to delay payments on contracts for critical services, while potential federal funding cuts loom. A recent report found that over 90% of City human services contracts were registered late, leaving organizations struggling to stay afloat while delivering essential services. From our recent newsletter: With New York City's competitive housing lotteries, the returning program "Ready to Rent" aims to "to ease and speed up the home-finding process" for New Yorkers by offering free application assistance from “housing ambassadors”. These housing ambassadors advise applicants on their eligibility and the income documentation as well as free financial counseling on how to check their credit scores and manage debt. To book an appointment, call 311 and say “Ready to Rent", or visit HPD’s?Ready to Rent?website here: https://lnkd.in/g3gGdi2T To directly contact organizations providing “Housing Ambassadors” services, view locations here: https://lnkd.in/gWs3nxqW Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gTZksq-Q Sign up for our newsletter to receive the most recent news: https://lnkd.in/ggvrTQNR

Nonprofit human services workers dedicate their lives to caring for our communities, but the Governor didn’t show us love in her recent budget proposal. ?? Instead of including a full 7.8% investment in human services, she proposed a 2.1% “inflation adjustment”—not nearly enough to fund programs or pay human services workers livable wages. From February 10 -14, email your State legislators and tell them that we are tired of this one-sided relationship. We know our worth, and we need them to fight for us in the next budget! ??
