关于我们
We are an independent charitable organisation working to build a healthier UK. Health is our most precious asset. Good health enables us to live happy, fulfilling lives, fuels our prosperity and helps build a stronger society. Yet good health remains out of reach for too many people in the UK and services are struggling to provide access to timely, high-quality care. It doesn’t have to be like this. Our mission is to help build a healthier UK by: 1. improving people’s health and reducing inequalities 2. supporting radical innovation and improvement in health and care services 3. providing evidence and analysis to improve health and care policy. We’ll achieve this by producing research and analysis, shaping policy and practice, building skills, knowledge and capacity, and acting as a catalyst for change. Everyone has a stake and a part to play in improving our health. By working together, we can build a healthier UK.

Wondering what personalised prevention and medicine is all about? And if it can save the NHS? Listen to the latest Centre for Personalised Medicine podcast with Anneke Lucassen and colleagues - and, yes, me! - on what 'personalised' actually means, the impact it could have, the risks to manage, and evidence to still collect: https://lnkd.in/eQReYvPv You can also read our The Health Foundation work on personalised prevention: https://lnkd.in/eCqbW2ap

Our latest survey completed with Ipsos UK tracking the UK public’s views on the NHS and social care shows that, across the NHS and social care, the public is less negative and more optimistic about the performance of services than under the previous government, though perceptions are still largely negative overall: ?? 21% of the public surveyed think standards of NHS care will get better over the next 12 months, compared with 11% in May 2024. ??11% think the standard of social care services will get better, compared with 5% in May 2024. ?? The public is also more likely to agree the government has the right policies for the NHS than under the previous government, however still only 17% think this. It’s always sunny in Havant… Thank you to James Maw and Havant Borough Council for inviting me to speak at their brilliant Alternative Recruitment event - part of Portsmouth & South Coast Business Week, where young people participating in the Link up Leigh Park project were pitching themselves to local employers. Part The Health Foundation’s Economies for Healthier Lives programme, it’s clear that Havant are making real strides in bringing young people into work, particularly those who have previously dropped out of education and training and those with a health condition. Jobs do need to be of good quality to make sure they both protect and improve the health of people who take them up, and employers spoke up to say that they recognise their role in the health of their workforce. I’m looking forward to hearing about the exciting next steps into work from the young people in the room today - a tenacious bunch! Kaitie Howard Aaron Butson Wayne Layton ACMA CGMA
For the last day of Portsmouth & South Coast Business Week #PSCBW The Economic Development Team and The Health Foundation welcomed employers from across Havant to an Alternative Recruitment event hosted at The Plaza. Before the event the team presented The University of Portsmouth Economic Impact Assessment of the Link UP Youth Hub, a Havant Borough Council and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) partnership project to support 16-24yr olds into work. The assessment looked at the impact on the local economy, averted costs to the NHS and Policing totalling a staggering £26m over 5 years. Businesses then met with young people who hosted an about me stall to showcase themselves to the employers. Offers of taster days and invite to interview flowed from the event and we are looking forward to hearing about the successful outcomes from these interactions. If you are an employer looking to recruit from the local area and would like support matching young people to your vacancy, contact the Link Up Youth Hub linkuphub <[email protected]>

We are pleased to have supported this new research from Toynbee Hall through our Emotional Support for Young People programme. ? The young people who took part in our Young People’s Future Health Inquiry identified emotional support as a key factor in supporting good health in the transition to adulthood. ? However, there was a big gap in the evidence, especially work that took an intersectional, multi method approach, and looked at it in the context of the diverse communities of which young people are part. ? Through participatory work with young people in Tower Hamlets and a nationally representative survey, Toynbee Hall has provided valuable insights into the ways that financial stress, disability, sexuality and culture affect the emotional support that young people receive – with significant implications for mental health.? ? It also highlights the important role that policy can play in creating space for emotional support at national level – including through action on social security, employment and education – and by supporting community building initiatives that can strengthen family relationships and, in doing so, take a preventative approach to mental health. ? Find out more about the programme??? ? https://lnkd.in/eSA8Sm6f
Today we publish a new action research report - "The crisis makes us more alone" - that investigates how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting young people's access to emotional support. The report, co-produced with 12 peer researchers from Tower Hamlets, reveals: ? Increased pressure to provide for family and support others ? Financial strain affecting mental health and relationships ? Challenges in transitioning to adulthood ? Intergenerational, gender, and cultural factors at play ? Importance of outside spaces and activities National, local and community recommendations emphasise the need for better financial security, affordable social spaces, and more support for young people across generations. Let's work together to ensure our young people feel supported. Read more ??https://buff.ly/41vyr7z
