We are excited to highlight our partnership with The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts this week! Staff from the Foundation recently volunteered in our kitchens, helping our team prepare and package medically tailored meals for our clients. The Foundation's Synergy Initiative grant is supporting a medically tailored groceries pilot for clients living in Central Massachusetts. We are incredibly proud of our multifaceted partnership with the Foundation and the time they spent contributing to our mission. Thank you to the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts!

Meet Visionary Member: The Health Foundation of Central Mass This month we are excited to introduce you to one of MPHA's members who give of their time, expertise, and resources to support our collective work to promote public health throughout the Commonwealth. Established in 1999, The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts Massachusetts has had a tremendous impact on those who live or work in its region of 81 cities and towns in and around Worcester County. In alignment with the values of MPHA, the Health Foundation has a particular emphasis on vulnerable populations and unmet needs with a focus on "addressing socioeconomic factors that affect health." We’re impressed by the foundation’s innovative approaches to public health and its deep commitment to being a catalyst for change. The foundation exemplifies the role a funder can play to leverage its resources and promote prevention, education, and research. Over the past 25 years, The Health Foundation has distributed over $59 million in grants to support projects addressing homelessness, food insecurity, criminal justice, economic mobility, health equity, and more. It has supported MPHA in various ways since 2000 and increased its membership support to the “Visionary” level in 2022 in recognition of MPHA’s critical work. Whether it's showing up at the MPHA Lobby Day, giving testimony at legislative hearings, sharing expertise, or rallying support for our policy priorities, The Health Foundation demonstrates time and again that it is indeed a Visionary Member! “MPHA is an incredible advocate and asset in Massachusetts,” said Amie Shei, PhD, President and CEO.“ It is an honor to be able to support and partner with MPHA as we work together to improve health, advance health equity, and drive systems change, and I hope others will join us in making impactful investments in MPHA.”

#TestimonialTuesday: This neighborhood in Westminster, Massachusetts had extreme amounts of sodium chloride in their private well water. From discolored and distasteful water coming from the tap, unpleasant showers, and stained clothes after washing, this contamination affected every part of these homeowner's daily lives. https://lnkd.in/gF-MYqjh "An Act Protecting Drinking Water Quality in Private Wells" (SD.847/HD.3597) – filed by Senator Jamie Eldridge, Representative Natalie Blais, and Representative Meghan Kilcoyne – aims to provide protections for households who rely on private wells for their drinking water. We've partnered with The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts and several other organizations to form the Coalition for Safe Drinking Water. This Coalition is currently engaging with key stakeholders and government officials ensure all Massachusetts residents have safe water to consume! #WhatsInYourWellWater #mapoli
