Healthy civic institutions are the backbone of our society. These groups need to be robust to enable our communities and our country to thrive. That's why Rich was moved to deliver the keynote address at the Goodwill Industries International Annual Meeting of the Conference of Executives earlier this month. The event continued our long-standing ties to Goodwill, with Rich having supported the organization in developing fair and equitable practices for compensating employees in the 2010s. The theme of the conference was "The Power of Us," which Rich reinforced by saying: "We are wired to be together, not apart. We are wired to cooperate, not be divided all the time. We are meant to go together. If we want to move forward as communities and as a country, we have to make a commitment to be together and go together, even amid our real differences and disagreements." What Rich shared with Goodwill's leadership reflects the essence of the new civic path: we need each other to move forward. And we need organizations like Goodwill to step forward and lead the way.

"I believe what we’re missing today in American society is a way in which people can come together, figure out what they can agree on amid our real differences, and take action. We must build together; talk alone is not enough." https://bit.ly/4hyTxY5

"I know our “politics” are polarized. Yet, I believe the drumbeat that Americans are polarized has increasingly become an excuse for not engaging with one another and, at times, even a smokescreen to justify actions by those who seek to win at any cost. We must get beyond these traps." Here's how: https://bit.ly/4hyTxY5
