During the month of October, we served 200+ seniors at our Senior Mobile Pantry at San Martin de Porres, deep the heart of San Antonio’s Westside! ?? As always, we are so appreciative of our partners over at River City Produce for helping to personalize these produce boxes for our senior population. We’d like to recognize our amazing group of volunteers from Chick-fil-A and Kirby Senior Center! We love our volunteers! ???? Our Senior Mobile Pantry, offered on the third Tuesday of every month, caters to seniors facing food or nutritional insecurities. We are so proud of our seniors who attended the House of Neighborly Service - Texas’s 2nd Annual La Casita del Barrio 1K/5K held at Our Lady of the Lake University! At the reception ceremony, our group received the “Largest Team Award” trophy - 30 total seniors registered! ?? Please help us congratulate our team of Gonzaba Foundation Ambasdadors and 1K walkers for their job well done! What a great way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors! ????

Happy Wednesday! Recently, The Gonzaba Foundation’s Executive Director, Fernanda Cardenas,MPA, received an exclusive invitation to participate in a stakeholder roundtable discussion at the San Antonio Food Bank with the U.S. Department of Health Human Services. This roundtable discussion focused on important topics such as the “Food is Medicine” program, nutritional insecurity, and how federal/non-federal and public/private healthcare industries are making headway with health disparities in San Antonio. These conversations are extremely critical, especially for seniors age 60+ in low-income households. ??? As always, we put the needs of our seniors at the forefront — and today was no different. Thank you to the San Antonio Food Bank for organizing such an informative and moving roundtable discussion! ??

Last month, The Gonzaba Foundation had the incredible opportunity to support the annual Meals on Wheels San Antonio “Beat the Heat” initiative and distribution event! With the help of our volunteers and community partners, we distributed 480 box fans and cooling kits to homebound seniors in need! ?? Special thanks to CPS Energy, our dedicated group of volunteers, and the office of Adriana Rocha Garcia, Ph.D. for serving seniors in our community! The Gonzaba Foundation is honored to announce that we received the Senior Health Champion award last week at the House of Neighborly Service’s 1st Annual Casita del Barrio luncheon at Hotel Contessa! ?? We are incredibly proud and honored to be recognized for our work and efforts in improving the lives of older adults in San Antonio. We’d like to especially thank our staff, board, and our community for championing us every step of the way. ?Adelante! We ?? our seniors!

On Feb. 7th, with the help of the fantastic Meals on Wheels San Antonio team, we had over 100 volunteers attend to help deliver warm meals to 400+ seniors on our southside! This is, in fact, our LARGEST volunteer event to date! ?? We would like to thank our incredible team of volunteers, community partners, and organizations who participated and helped make this event possible. Our seniors mean the world to us! Here's to community-wide efforts and delivering #MoreThanAMeal to our homebound neighbors ????

#SeniorNight 2024 is officially in the books! This year alone, The Gonzaba Foundation had the opportunity to send 1,500 seniors to a Spurs game for FREE on Jan. 24th! Here is a moment we captured right after our Senior Hype Squad’s incredible halftime performance! All the smiling faces lead us to believe that this is the true San Antonio Spurs fan experience. Special thanks to our team of volunteers who helped make this evening possible for our Spurs Silver Club members! We are so proud of this group and all the memories we've made so far in 2024 ?????
