When we at The Generosity Commission released our seminal report last September, we anticipated significant shifts in the civil society landscape by 2025. One thing remains clear: businesses and private sector leaders have an essential role in promoting generosity and volunteering. Building corporate programs around these priorities empowers teams, enhances culture, and drives meaningful connections and impact with communities. Simply put, doing good is good for business. https://blkb.co/4j5trwL

关于我们
The Generosity Commission’s capstone report, Everyday Actions, Extraordinary Potential: The Power of Giving and Volunteering, is a rigorous analysis of generosity today— and a call for leaders across the nonprofit, funder, business, and policy sectors to take action to protect and promote this singular asset. The report details commissioned research, expert testimony from scholars and practitioners, and conversations with everyday people. It offers an important snapshot of giving and volunteering with nonprofits today and proposes a set of recommendations to address declines in giving and volunteering rates. Recommendations in the report include ideas for how fundraisers, funders, policymakers and business leaders can better promote giving and volunteering. The shape of generosity continues to change. The Commission’s report invites a wider public conversation about the role everyday giving and volunteering plays in society and the responsibility different sectors have to uphold and encourage it.

Nonprofits are the backbone of our communities. There are nearly 2 million in the U.S. alone, championed through hundreds of millions of dollars being donated each year, much of it in acts of everyday generosity from individual people. Our work The Generosity Commission has been a powerful reminder that while generosity and volunteering are personal actions, they are so much more than that. Together they are part of our country’s history, and they remain vital cornerstones of a strong society. I’m proud to work alongside colleagues on the Commission from across the social impact ecosystem, elevating solutions that strengthen civil society. https://blkb.co/4ipcRr2

Read @Blackbaud CEO and Generosity Commission Co-Chair @Mike Gianoni’s message for Fast Company readers this morning: “...that’s what culture is—sharing a common purpose with those around us. Businesses have as much of an interest in instilling that sense of common purpose as any sector. That’s why fostering a revival in civic participation is a central challenge, and opportunity, for today’s generation of business leaders.”
I wrote in Fast Company about the essential role the private sector can play in encouraging philanthropy. By promoting generosity, volunteering, and civic engagement, companies can build a cohesive culture, redefine corporate purpose, and improve performance. As the season of giving reaches full swing, it’s vital we recognize that it’s good business to do good. https://blkb.co/3DhyESl
