The Gathering Place (TGP) offers services to combat poverty and address the impacts of marginalization and oppression that are often contributing factors to poverty or homelessness. By offering low-barrier access to a broad range of basic necessities and wrap-around care options, TGP guides women, gender-diverse people, and their children living in poverty from a place of crisis and instability to one of stability and security. MISSION We are a community of safety and hope where positive relationships, choice, and essential resources transform lives. GUIDING PRINCIPLES We serve women, children, transgender, and non-binary individuals who are experiencing poverty or homelessness. We believe in hope as an important change agent and hold that hope for everyone. We believe deeply in the power of community and continue working to develop it. Our key values include recognizing individual strengths, building respect and trust, and offering acceptance unconditionally. VISION Fight indifference * Insist on connectedness * Inspire

It's the last day of #BlackHistoryMonth! For generations, Black Americans have been blocked from building wealth through redlining, unfair lending, and housing discrimination. Today, the average Black family’s net worth is just 1/10th of a white family’s. Want to learn more? Huge thank you to The Women's Foundation of Colorado, for your empowering community initiative through the WINcome grantmaking program! With trust-based and flexible resources, you're not only addressing economic inequities but also amplifying the voices of women and communities who know their needs best. It’s exciting to see the diversity of solutions you’re supporting, from child care to advocacy, and we’re honored to be in partnership with an organization driving such meaningful change. Here’s to a future where women’s autonomy and equity thrive!
What if we trusted women to make their own financial decisions? That's exactly what we're doing. We thrilled to announce that in December 2024 we invested $900K in 23 organizations across Colorado through our WINcome grantmaking program, supporting women's autonomy over their financial futures with trust-based and flexible resources. From cash assistance to child care to advocacy work, we're backing the solutions women say they need. In a Time of Uncertainty, You Can Make a Difference Through The Gathering Place's Meal Sponsorship!?? In moments when the world feels uncertain, one thing remains clear: there is power in community, and WE can bring about positive change through connection and belonging. We invite you to make a tangible impact during these times by joining our Meal Sponsorship Program. Whether you're feeling hopeful or unsure about the future, every act of connection matters. This is your opportunity to be part of something meaningful and create change within your circle. What is Meal Sponsorship? It’s a chance for your group to fund, prepare, and serve a meal to our members—women, gender-diverse individuals, and children—at our welcoming, low-barrier shelter. By participating, you’ll not only help offset the cost of meals but also form genuine connections with those we serve. How It Works: Funding & Preparation: Your group funds and helps prepare breakfast, lunch, or both. All ingredients will be ready upon your arrival. Guided Service: Our Food Program staff will guide you through the preparation and serving process. Team Size: Groups must include 3-6 volunteers. In a world that feels divided, this is your chance to unite with others, share hope, and make a direct impact. Your generosity will help provide nourishment, connection, and belonging for individuals striving to rebuild stability and find community. Serve a meal and make a difference.?? Ready to take action? Did you see us at the Nuggets game? Thank you to #ibotta for inviting The Gathering Place (TGP) to participate in the 'Shot for Change' at last night’s #denvernuggets game! This initiative highlights those making a positive impact in the Denver community. Meet Nyomi, a weekly volunteer in our Clothing Boutique. Nyomi researches trauma-informed approaches in robot design (how cool is that?) for her PhD program. With a background in supporting domestic abuse survivors, Nyomi volunteers to make a direct impact, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and support TGP members. Outside of volunteering, she enjoys movies, trying new recipes, and playing gaming with friends. Thanks, Nyomi!
