The Georgetown/Scott County Young Professionals committee is excited to be kicking off a year of Networking AND Giving back this Thursday! Join us downtown at Galvin's (155 W Main Street, Georgetown, KY) from 4:00-6:00 PM to meet other local young professionals! Event is FREE to attend, bring a friend or coworker! We will be meeting in the Back Room, drinks and apps available to purchase. At this month's event, we'll also be collecting sneakers and supplies to benefit The Gathering Place! Bring new or gently used shoes (any size) and/or trash bags, detergent, and bleach to help support their mission! Can't join, but want to donate? Please take some time to read. It’s quite long but well worth your time to better understand what the people we serve have to go through every day.
I don’t think I’ve ever read such a story by a homeless person, and I’m glad I did. I couldn’t stop reading. Homelessness has many faces and this is just one, but it helps us understand the complex and difficult lives of the homeless.

We served 503 unique persons in June — a bit more than 1 for every 100 residents of Georgetown. Some received safe shelter, others a hot meal, many more took advantage of our shower & laundry facilities and several received essential supplies such as clothing, toiletries, etc. It’s overwhelming that so many in our community need help. Thanks to CLARK Material Handling Company for the help of a few of your incredible employees on your day of service to the community. They spent Friday painting the first floor of our shelter for women & children. It’s never looked better! We appreciate your commitment to our organization and the example you set for other corporate citizens in our community. It “lifts” our spirits.
