A recap on the firm’s work from February 2025!
I told a partner I worked for at a civil firm that I was going into private criminal defense. He quipped: “Good luck getting opportunities to sharpen your writing skills doing criminal cases.” Well…. February 2025 was a pretty decent “writing” month for our criminal defense and family law shop. Here’s what Ashlee Neves and I have been up to: - drafted and filed a motion to transfer a teenage client’s aggravated assault case to juvenile court. - drafted and filed a motion challenging Wyoming’s criminal gambling statute on vagueness grounds - drafted and filed a motion to suppress statements made during a custodial interrogation in a multimillion dollar theft case based on our client’s unequivocal request for counsel - turned a second round set of edits on my public lands/political question law review article All the while, Lindsey Hunt and Ashlee had another custody trial where they kicked butt. Decision pending. Oh—and—we signed up a few more clients and had four contested sentencing hearings in 3 counties! We’ll try to rest our sizzling keyboards and balding snow tires this weekend. Onward to March. #February2025 #recap #legalwriting #criminaldefense
