Did you know that 'chalky teeth,' or molar hypomineralization (MH), affects 19% of children worldwide? This condition leaves teeth with soft, weak enamel that’s prone to decay. New research, led by AFI Postdoc?Dr. Hakan Karaaslan,?is shedding light on potential new treatment approaches. AFI scientists studied how pig teeth naturally harden after eruption, revealing how saliva may play a key role in removing excess proteins and strengthening enamel. This research has the potential to lead to improvements in MH treatment in humans. Read the full article to learn more about this exciting discovery: https://lnkd.in/e3-_kVXg?

We are thrilled to bring you Episode 1 of Ambush Science—an all-new ADA Forsyth series where we conduct a "surprise" ?? Q&A with our scientists so you can learn directly from them about their cutting-edge research in oral health. Today’s episode features Dr. Batbileg Bor, who started at ADA Forsyth as a postdoctoral researcher and is now an Associate Professor. The Bor Lab focuses on “defining the mechanisms and significance of interbacterial interactions in the human oral cavity.” Dr. Bor shares insights into his lab’s work investigating Saccharibacteria—a largely unstudied group of bacteria living in the oral microbiome—and its potential role in the fight against periodontal disease. Visit our website to learn more about the groundbreaking research at AFI and stay tuned for more episodes of Ambush Science! https://lnkd.in/e8n6cyfm
