Announcing dentech 2024’s Keynote Speaker! This year Dr. Edward J. Zuckerberg, D.D.S.,F.A.G.D., father to Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, will be attending dentech 2024 and delivering the keynote address. Dr. Zuckerberg is well known for being an early adopter of a variety of technologies within his dental practice and a champion of innovation. Dr. Zuckerberg lectures nationally and internationally on the Oral Systemic Connection, serves as a Venture Partner at Revere Partners, the First Independent Venture Fund for Oral Health, acts as the Chief Dental Officer for Viome and the Chief Education Officer for Cloud Dentistry in addition to treating patients part time in Cupertino, CA. Dr. Zuckerberg has co-authored several textbooks and is a frequent webinar and podcast guest as well as a regular contributor to Dental Journals. We sat down with Dr. Zuckerberg ahead of his keynote to discuss his journey in dentistry, his early adoption of technologies like digital radiography and online banking, which improved patient case acceptance and practice efficiency. He also shared his transition to consulting and venture capital, focusing on companies like VIOME and Keystone Bio that address the systemic impact of oral health. Dr. Zuckerberg envisions a future where dentists are integrated into primary care, leveraging tech to enhance patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. The ADA Forsyth Institute has been awarded a $6.2 million grant from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Funded under the highly competitive RM1 mechanism, this five-year award will support a groundbreaking project to develop next-generation smart materials for dental fillings using physics-based artificial intelligence. Working on this multiple PI project are Drs. Jirun Sun, Felicitas Bidlack, yulong zhang, Xuesong He, and Ben Wu, from AFI; Dr. Leyla Mirmomen, Chief Executive Officer at Optimuos; and Dr. Pirouz Kavehpour, Professor at University of California, Los Angeles, and Chief Scientist at Optimuos.
