The Food Bank is honored to recognize the many women leading hunger relief efforts in our region and across the nation! For generations, women have been at the forefront of hunger relief efforts, driving important programs and efforts to ensure access to nutritious food for families who need it most. Their dedication continues to create lasting change in our communities. We're especially grateful for the remarkable women leading partner agencies across our 32-county service area — many of whom were honored with the Friend of The Food Bank Award in 2024. Women are also vital to The Food Bank’s mission as volunteer and staff members. In fact, four out of the five of our Executive Team members are female! On a national scale, we also celebrate Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, who was recently named to TIME's Women of the Year list for 2025. Today and every day, we honor these inspiring women for their commitment to ending hunger. ?? #WomensHistoryMonth #ShareFoodBringHope

It's National Ag Day and we want to say a special thank you to The Food Bank's agricultural partners and incredible supporters! ?? Specifically, we would like to thank our agricultural supporters at the Columbia Farmers Market, like The Sage Garden! Leading The Sage Garden is Erica Parker, a first-generation farmer with a passion for growing and harvesting nutrient-dense foods through regenerative practices. And, with March being Women's History Month, we recognize the significance of The Sage Garden as a women-led business! Most weeks, Erica and other vendors at The Columbia Farmer's Market donate their excess produce and goods to The Food Bank where our staff transports them to The Food Bank Market to share with our neighbors at no cost. “I always envisioned donating our surplus, but getting it to The Food Bank ourselves can be challenging. This makes it so much easier. As we scale up, we need to grow more than we can sell to keep our booth looking full, and having this option for donating the excess is perfect. It’s an honor to be part of a community that values getting fresh produce to low-income families," Erica says. We'd like to thank Erica and the many local vendors at The Columbia Farmer's Market for their incredible support in helping share nutritious foods to our local neighbors facing hunger! #AgDay #WomensHistoryMonth #ShareFoodBringHope
