Ahead of the most polarizing US election in history, people across the country are feeling more disconnected and isolated than ever before. Nearly three-quarters of Americans (73%) feel anxious about the political climate amid a loneliness epidemic that affects 1 out of 2 American adults. At Flash Pack, our mission is to create more than a million new friendships – so we have created The Friendship Bus to encourage conversation and connection, regardless of political beliefs. Engaging with strangers can feel awkward at the best of times, but we will break the ice with our bespoke Conversation Cards – which have been informed by ten years of friendship-making. Through these conversation starters, and various activities designed to help strangers open up to each other, visitors can arrive solo, but leave as friends. We saw how powerful this process can be, when we opened our Friendship Corner in New York this summer – and, of course, from every group trip we’ve organized over the years. After all, 80% of Flashpackers stay in touch.

Early on in my trip, I realized that there was not much overlap between solo travel and disability travel. That prompted me to set about making a new world record: a challenge that required me to submit over 2000 pieces of evidence. So, every time someone signed a statement for me on my travels, they started following my journey. They were as excited as I was when I was finally awarded the title.???
