What a day at #CSACAM! The day began bright and early, with attendees choosing between a lively Fun Run through Old Town Pasadena or a calming one-hour yoga session to start their morning. ? During the CSAC Awards Breakfast, presided over by the 2nd Vice President and County of Santa Clara Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, we celebrated excellence across counties. The event honored CSAC Institute graduates, presented the prestigious Circle of Service awards and recognized the County Counsels' Association for 50 remarkable years of service. A special highlight was a surprise recognition of Jennifer Henning, CSAC’s longtime Litigation Counsel, for her exceptional contributions to the #CAcounties family. The morning concluded with the much-anticipated announcement of the 2024 Challenge Awards winners—stay tuned for more details on these inspiring projects! ? The momentum continued with productive policy discussions. The Government Finance & Administration Policy Committee held an engaging meeting, while the California Counties Foundation hosted a workshop exploring the complexities of the federal grant cycle, providing valuable insights to attendees. ? At lunch, the celebration of excellence resumed with the presentation of Distinguished Service Awards, including remarks from honoree Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., California Secretary of State, and the election of the 2024-2025 CSAC Officers. Attendees also bid farewell to CSAC President and County of San Luis Obispo Supervisor Bruce Gibson, who gave a heartfelt address. The lunch program concluded with a dynamic keynote speech by author and political consultant Mike Madrid. ? We kept the energy going as we captured a group photo of our incredible county supervisors and reconvened for the CSAC Board of Directors Meeting.? ? And the excitement isn't over yet—tonight, we continue celebrating at the Annual Banquet and Installation of Officers. Stay tuned for even more updates and recaps from this unforgettable week of #leadership, #learning, and #community.

Although federal funding can bridge those budgetary gaps, the organizations that need funding the most often fail to get it. We spoke to three experts about the challenges and best practices for securing government funding for climate resilience projects. Here's what they had to say...

More often than not, smaller communities with limited resources tend to be less resilient against natural hazard risks like floods, wildfires, hurricanes, etc. Outside funding could help. But, these same communities often lack the money and resources to apply for and follow through on government grant requirements. The solution? Christopher Wagoner, MPA of TFG recommends sharing the burden with other communities with similar goals. It's closely aligned with an approach we at AEM call #collaborativeresilience. Check out Christopher's remarks below, then click through for the full podcast episode: https://lnkd.in/ghEPGKB2

Congratulations to?Kit Carson Electric Cooperative Inc. for being chosen as a finalist for $95.6M in USDA funding through the Empowering Rural America Program! This incredible project could transform a superfund site into a #greenjob and #renewableenergy-creating hub in northern New Mexico. EnerVision, Inc. and TFG were proud to collaborate to write the grant application for this funding.
Will Kit Carson show the way in green hydrogen, too?
