关于我们
The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (FCCO) is a nonprofit spay/neuter program for cats. Our mission is to improve the welfare and reduce the population of feral cats through spay/neuter services and education. Spay/Neuter improves a cat's overall health, curbs mating behaviors like spraying and fighting; and prevents litters of homeless kittens. Since our founding in 1995, FCCO has spayed/neutered and vaccinated nearly 140,000 cats in Oregon and SW Washington. We are supported through community donations and the efforts of volunteers. FCCO's donation-based services are targeted for feral and outdoor stray cats who have caregivers feeding them. The caregivers trap the cats, bring them to a clinic, and return the cats to where they are being fed.

It is with profound sadness that we share the recent passing of Bob Sallinger, a founder of the Cats Safe at Home program. More than 25 years ago Bob saw that Portland Audubon (now Bird Alliance of Oregon) and the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon had a shared vision of fewer cats in the outdoor landscape and he reached out to FCCO to see how we could partner for the betterment of cats and local wildlife. He understood the common cat and bird conflict could be best addressed by engaging the community and that, in Portland, people care deeply about the welfare of cats and birds and prefer humane approaches to addressing the issue. The Cats Safe at Home partnership has focused on raising public awareness, public policy, research, and community engagement, with the Catio Tour being the highest-profile activity. In its 12 years, it has hosted more than 10,000 people visiting catios, and resulted in a “movement” of catios being built – we now track more than 1,200 in the metro region. Bob’s novel idea to bring cat and bird advocates together was not only visionary but remains unique today, as very few places have anything even remotely similar. In his honor, we remain steadfastly committed to carrying his vision into the future.
