?? MVMC's executive director Alex Hertzer led a productive WorkAdvance committed employers meeting today at YSU STEM Workforce Education & Innovation's Excellence Training Center. Attendees learned details about the WorkAdvance refresh, how changes are being implemented and goals for 2025. The biggest changes include: ? Training is now four weeks ? Drug screening/background checks added prior to starting program ? Career readiness curriculum - implemented with help from subject matter expert ? Dimensional tolerancing class added to technical training for hands-on learning ? Extended interview preparation with career coach (better placement/retention) ? Attendance policy updated to reflect industry expectations ? Warren WorkAdvance training moved to Kent State University at Trumbull The National Center for Urban Solutions - NCUS in Youngstown also introduced the new business developer Anthony Montevideo. He talked about the relationships he's building with area manufacturers so far, along with his role in providing wraparound services to participants. NCUS is responsible for job readiness training and soft skills development for workplace success. Once participants complete the WorkAdvance program, they get career coaching for a year to help navigate their journey. ?? Finally, MVMC rolled out a Fair Chance Hiring guide to emphasize being inclusive in the employment process when it comes to background checks, and introduced MFG Ready, a two-year program being piloted at East Liverpool High School with member Marsh Bellofram.
