We are excited to announce that Scar Rulien is the second recipient of the Eve Devitt Scholarship for Human Rights. The founder of the Bruin High GSA at Twin Falls Senior High School, they have uplifted LGBTQ+ youth voices across the Magic Valley leading rallies, coordinating teacher workshops, and organizing the Southern Idaho Pride week. Recently, as hate groups have sought to ban books featuring LGBTQ+ characters and storylines in Twin Falls and across the state, Scar has helped to found Idahoans Against Banned Books sharing stories, supporting libraries, and fighting back against far-right attacks on Idaho youth. Scar’s work isn’t limited to Idaho, though. They serve on GLSEN’s National Leadership Council working to create safe and inclusive school environments for queer students across the country and they’ve been recognized as equalpride’s 2024 valedictorian and featured in The Advocate for their activism. In their free time, Scar is a photographer and graphic designer. They will attend Boise State University in the fall where they are double majoring in Film & Television Arts and Narrative Arts. We honored to award Scar with a $2500 scholarship and we are excited to see the waves they will continue to make in Idaho and beyond.

Unapologetically fighting for the rights of Idaho's trans and non-binary youth.
关于我们
The Eve Devitt Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2023 after Idaho banned gender affirming care for minors to help trans and non-binary youth across Idaho thrive. The fund provides easy-access mutual aid funds to help trans and non-binary youth cover travel costs to get gender-affirming care out-of-state and scholarships to youth activists fighting for human rights. It was named in honor of Eve Devitt, who refuses to back down in the fight for trans visibility and rights.

Today, we awarded the inaugural Eve Devitt Scholarship for Human Rights to Eve Devitt our fund’s namesake and a leading Idaho voice for human rights. For years, Eve has fought for the healthcare, equal rights, and basic humanity of transgender and non-binary youth in the Idaho legislature and national media, never wavering despite the hatred and vitriol she faced. She has also been involved in local and national climate justice initiatives, working for Snake River wild salmon and steelhead recovery with the Idaho Conservation League’s Youth Salmon Protectors and making headlines after her arrest in U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s office over FEMA budget negotiations in a September 2023 Sunrise Movement protest. A recent graduate of Boise High School, Eve will attend American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and Los Angeles where she is studying Acting on Camera. Congratulations, Eve! We are excited to witness and be a part of the amazing things you will continue to accomplish.
