This scam involves the scammer contacting you pretending to be a friend locked out of their account and they need your help to get reset. They will ask you to provide them with the 2FA (two-factor authentication) code being sent to your phone number or email; but it’s YOUR account they’re resetting. How to avoid getting scammed by a hacked or cloned account: - Never share 2FA (two-factor authentication) codes. - Call or message the person using the number you have in your phone/email contacts or another social media platform to confirm it’s a legitimate request. - Change your social media accounts passwords. If you receive an email or text with a 2FA request and know it wasn’t you who made the request, consider this a sign that someone is trying to access your account.
