Our team had the opportunity to tour the Marion Barry Avenue Market, an exciting and impactful project by Meyer grantee partner Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. that's bringing fresh food from local growers, community space, and economic opportunities to Ward 8. Located at 1303 Marion Barry Ave SE, this space will house a full-service market, dining areas, educational programming, and more, rooted in racial justice and contributing toward equitable access to healthy food. This project is about more than groceries—it's about healing communities, supporting local entrepreneurs, and creating a hub for connection and growth. We can't wait to see the Marion Barry Avenue Market open its doors soon!

With a week to go until election day, our grantee partners are fighting hard to ensure that everyone is afforded their right to vote. Our Virginia Partnerships & Strategy Director, Edgar Aranda-Yanoc, stood with grantee partners Virginia Coalition for Immigrant Rights, Dreamer Mothers in Action, and African Communities Together to celebrate the restoration of voting rights for 1,600 Virginians who had their names unlawfully purged from the voting rolls. Contact 1-866-OUR-VOTE if you have any issues voting. UPDATE: The Supreme Court has since ruled that Virginia could continue their purge of these voters. Several of our grantee partners have been working tirelessly to ensure their communities have the knowledge to participate fully in our democracy in this election cycle and beyond.
