Masoud A. highlights the urgent need for a rethink of both the healthcare system and the future of work in the United States. As AI continues to reshape industries, it's imperative that we address the misaligned incentives in healthcare and the precarious nature of modern employment. By learning from other countries and embracing innovation, we can work towards a more equitable and sustainable future for all. Solopreneur Mindset:?With AI and other technologies, companies can now achieve what once required large teams. This has led to the rise of solopreneurs and smaller teams, but it also means fewer full-time jobs and more precarious employment Global Competition:?The barrier to entry has been lowered, allowing anyone to become a content producer or entrepreneur. However, this also means global competition, making it harder for workers to find stable employment1 Universal Healthcare Models:?Countries like Austria and Germany have implemented hybrid public-private healthcare systems that provide universal coverage with relatively low costs. These models offer valuable lessons for the U.S. Labor Market Disruptions:?The labor market is ripe for major disruptions, and it's crucial for workers, policymakers, and employers to prepare for a future where traditional employment models may no longer be viable Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eMtqy8G8 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/e3F8qwfs

The Paradox of Service: Can Great CX Mean No Service at All? Excited to share this episode with Ben Segal, a former colleague and a powerhouse in customer experience! With his impressive track record at companies like Freshly, Pair, and Thesis, Ben shared insights that redefine how I perceive customer service. His approach goes beyond mere satisfaction; he emphasizes the importance of delighting customers and transforming their experiences into lasting emotional connections. In our conversation, he highlighted how thoughtful gestures—like sending flowers to a grieving pet owner—can create unforgettable moments that resonate far beyond the transaction. I’m excited to share this enlightening discussion with you all; it’s packed with wisdom that can elevate any organization’s customer experience strategy! ?? Delight, Don’t Just Satisfy: The goal should be to?delight?customers, not just meet their needs. A memorable experience can turn a one-time buyer into a loyal advocate. ?? Empathy in Action: Companies that show genuine empathy—like sending flowers to a grieving pet owner—create emotional connections that keep customers coming back. ?? Investing in CX Pays Off: Retaining customers is cheaper than acquiring new ones. Investing in CX can lead to significant cost savings in the long run. ?? Culture of Empowerment: Leaders must foster an environment where employees feel empowered to go the "extra inch," which is often more attainable than going the "extra mile." ?? Short-Term vs. Long-Term Thinking: Prioritizing immediate profits can undermine long-term relationships. Building emotional connections today pays dividends tomorrow. ?? CX as a Revenue Driver: A strong CX strategy can enhance brand reputation and customer lifetime value, ultimately benefiting the bottom line. Rachel Windzberg ?? and David Lifson are the best product managers to discuss the makeup of good managers. Thank you both for an outstanding conversation!
??? I was excited to come back to Estee's podcast and chat with Dave, where we dove into the topic of bad managers (and how NOT to be one ??). Link in the comments. We spoke about finding good managers, what it means to be a positive multiplier, and the real cost of having a "negative multiplier" manager on team productivity and employee well-being. ?? I’m grateful to be at a point in my career where I can openly share my experiences as both an IC and a manager, discuss the impact bad managers can have—and the amazing benefits of great ones! Check it out and let me know what you think. Hope it’s helpful! ?? ?? Follow me for more tips & insights. ?? Share this with someone who might need it. ?? Comment your thoughts ?? This interview was one I pursued for over a year. I had been using the Fitbod app to power my workouts and wanted to get a sneak peek behind the scenes to learn how the weightlifting tech sausage is made. Joshua Gnanayutham was incredibly nice but kept putting me off, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when he finally agreed to come on the show. This conversation ended up being a fascinating dive into the world of habit formation. Here are some top learnings from our chat, along with a video if that’s how you prefer to consume your podcasts! ??♂? Habit Formation is Key: Building fitness habits is tougher than getting hooked on Candy Crush. Fitbod's design drops you straight into your workout, bypassing the fluff to keep you engaged and logging those workouts like a champ. ??♂? The Reward Loop: Fitbod employs a clever "hooked model" (check out Nir Eyals book:?Hooked) where your desire to work out triggers the action of opening the app, leading to rewards like personal records and badges. It's like a video game, but instead of leveling up in fantasy land, you're leveling up your biceps! ??♂? Short-Term vs. Long-Term Goals: While short-term habits keep users coming back, long-term results are what truly matter. Fitbod focuses on helping users transform their bod ?? Allison Yamamoto (CPO, worked at LinkedIn and OscarHealth) lays out a step-by-step guide on how to conduct reference checks in a way that gets you valuable information, identifies red flags, and sets up the candidate for success: 1. Reference checks: Not just a box-ticking exercise, but a goldmine of insights (if you know how to dig) 2. Red flags in references? As rare as a unicorn riding a bicycle. Backchannel for the real dirt! 3. Opening question magic: "In what capacity did you work with this person?" - It's like a crystal ball for the rest of the call 4. Decoding reference responses: From "I barely knew them" to "They're my BFF!" - every answer tells a story 5. Friend references or 'sellers': Great for boosting your ego, not so great for unbiased feedback (who knew?) Happy 4th of July ???? Thank you David Lifson for deriving the top lessons from product managers from the presidential debate. You’re the best.
4th of July special ???? Product Management Lessons from the Presidential Debate With David Lifson Lesson 1 for product managers from the presidential debate: RETIRE BEFORE YOU TURN 80. Okay, that lesson was not in the podcast… but I’m thrilled that David joined me to analyze the debate and figure out what we can learn from the chaos that was the presidential debate last week. Here are some lessons from the show: 1. Be prepared for your hypothesis to be wrong and have a Plan B. 2. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, not just yes-men. 3. The right decision at the wrong time is still the wrong decision. 4. Start with the goal, end with the details. 5. Clear, impactful communication is critical—whether in politics or product management. 6. Put the wellbeing of your company ahead of your own wellbeing. 7. Don’t set expectations too high—if you fail, the failure will be much worse. 8. Don't get lost in the weeds—stay on the message. Repeat, repeat, repeat. 9. If you’re not ready, reschedule. Yes, it will cause a mess, but going in unprepared will cause more damage. I hope you enjoy this episode. Remember to share with a friend, subscribe, or reach out. Happy July 4th!
