?? More than 17,000 students—or ? of all students in the Hamilton County School district—have access to high-speed internet at no charge thanks to HCS EdConnect powered by EPB. ?? Every household should have access to high-speed internet, and this program, available to eligible HCS students, is supporting that mission.?Sharing updates with the Hamilton County Department of Education school board was a nice way to round out Digital Inclusion Week. ?? Now in its fourth year, HCS EdConnect is made possible by public-private partnerships, including support from EPB, Hamilton County Department of Education, the City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County Government, The Enterprise Center, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation, and the Smart City Venture Fund.? We urge state leaders to prioritize state digital equity plans and budgets to bridge the digital divide. #DIW2024 #DigitalInclusion #DigitalEquityNow
DIGITAL INCLUSION WEEK | We believe that building a world in which everyone has access to technology to live, learn, work, and thrive requires ALL of us. ?? High fives for Floor Five! Last week, Legal Aid of East Tennessee honored The Enterprise Center with the Alexander Hamilton Award at their Pro Bono Night for our commitment to advancing justice for all. As a program of The Enterprise Center, Floor Five offers a free, accessible, neutral, and professional space for Legal Aid to meet with clients. From LAET: “The overwhelming majority of our clients have limited options for safe and comfortable meeting spaces. Churches, law offices, courthouses, and other non-profits often carry stigma. A neutral venue for professional services is a rare find, and The Enterprise Center is fulfilling that need.” We’re grateful for this recognition! Want to reserve Floor Five for your next meeting or conference? Secure your space here: https://lnkd.in/egejJXb9

We had Chattamatters and Tech Goes Home Tennessee team members organizing, supporting, and guiding conversations at last week's Chattanooga Changemakers event at United Way of Greater Chattanooga. Shout out to the partner organizations that made this possible—Young Professionals of Chattanooga, Urban League of Greater Chattanooga Emerging Leaders, and the Latinos Professional Network—and the elected officials who shared their perspectives. Go vote!
Did you know that Tennessee has the lowest voter turnout rate for young people (ages 18-29) in the US? Last night, we hosted Chattanooga Changemakers: a conversation about navigating local government. The room was filled with all sorts of community members and, excitingly, lots of young people. In fact, this event was a partnership between many of the young professional groups in town: Young Professionals of Chattanooga, United Way of Greater Chattanooga Emerging Leaders, Urban League of Greater Chattanooga Young Professionals, and the Latinos Professional Network! From helping us understand the differences between city and county government, to hearing about the best ways to get involved in local politics, we learned so much from our panelists. Thank you to Senator Bo Watson , Councilwoman Raquetta Dotley, Councilwoman Carol Berz, Deputy Mayor Tucker McClendon, Chattanooga Chief of Staff Jermaine Freeman, and Mary Helen Montgomery from Chattamatters for sharing this conversation with us! Curious about how YOU can get involved in local politics? Our panel made it abundantly simple: Go Vote! And encourage everyone you know to do the same. Still need to get registered?
